Called phone number I've had for 14 years looking for someone at a property I've been at for over 3 years.  Only identified themselves as working for Gordon ASG, and wouldn't tell me why they were looking for this person.

Number came up as 412-329-1917. Left a message saying they were looking for someone. I called the number they have & told them wrong number. They said they are going to take number off the list. We shall see

Caller identified himself by name but not by company.  He claimed I'd been sent some paperwork that was due back yesterday, and if I'd return his call, we could "clear this up right now."  No explanation of what the "this" is.  Needless to say, I am NOT calling back.

they called me twice on my cell phone. I did call them back and the guy said he would take my number out of the system. It has been over a month now and they have not called. Come to find out today... my husband had a outstanding bill and he called them after getting a letter and paid. The company even sent us a paid letter too. we have had some bad experiences with collection companies but they actually were very nice and did what they said they would do. I guess we lucked out

Message says you were a victim of identity theft and they need you to call them. What a lie!  Illegal tactics.

I called them back yesterday. Yes...it's ASG Gordon.  They identified themselves and offered my the last 4 of my ss# to confirm identity....so that was all ok.  Next....they mention some payday debt company I'm not familiar with about an alleged loan from 2009 (past statute anyway).  He asked "don't you want this off your credit report?"  of course I checked before I called....no negative marks for 3 years and ZERO mention of payday loan companies.  They were polite and not so mean.  BUT...when I asked about why the message mentioned I may be a victim of identity fraud, all he said was "oh...that's some other thing".  WTF????    So...it's a beyond statute debt with no way to prove it's anyone's let alone mine.  At the end of the day....just a guy on the phone asking me for money.   I should have asked him for money....just as valid.

I feel the same way, but just make sure the letter is legitimate.  They sent me an email with a bunch of numbers on it.  You're right, if it's yours you should pay, and I feel the same way.  Unfortunately, I never heard of the company they say my loan came from.  They say it's subsidiary of some other company, but it's just too bad because that doesn't cut the mustard with me.  Payday loan companies are notorious for bad record-keeping and not updating loans that have been paid.  Just be careful you recognize all the info they give to you.

Thanks "justme" they are legitimate. I have a friend of mine that works for the government and she even confirmed they are who they say they are. even my attorney looked over the letter and confirmed it to be legit. my husband and i have had nothing but great service from them and Samuel was wonderful to deal with. no one i know works in collections but i can imagine how hard of a job it is.... especially reading some of these comments lol pay your bills people.. yikes :)

I worked in collections 4 years ago (I hated it) but I must say that I was very apprehensive at first when I got a call from them. Normally I just mess with the person on the phone but for some reason I didn't on the particular call. Come to find out it was a payday loan that my ex-wife took out in my name. Even confirmed it with the bi&$% and low and behold she came clean and admitted it. I have to admit, I would of ignored the call but I am happy I didn't! She told me about 2 other accounts and even a credit card she took out. I pulled a copy of my credit report (haven't checked it in years) and sure as [***] she did. I guess I made the right call by divorcing her hahaha. At least my ex paid the account and the guy I spoke to (Ned) was very helpful and got me a email right away. FYI Be careful when paying accounts that are in collections but these guys definitely helped ME out! Now I just need to clean up the rest of my ex's mess!!

I received this on my work phone, as they know I won't pick up when they call on my cell phone:
" This is Lisa Miller and I am looking for someone you may know.....  call 1-888-296-1014 or stay on the line..."    Here is the their website:  http://www.gordonasg.com/home.html   I have no debt, at all, and what they think is my debt was discharged in a bankrupcy many, many, many months ago.  They know this and they are seeing if they can bully me or fool me into paying for something I no longer owe.
