- Unknown| 2 repliesI got a call from this number wanted me to pay off a really old credit card debt. They refused to send out any paperwork and wanted me to make a payment over the phone. It seemed like a fraud since they denied sending me any documents; they said "our attorneys cost too much to send out documents"
- Caller: some firm.
- Call type: Debt collector
- RobJust got calls from same person Jan. 2nd and 3rd. Caller Kentwood Law Group, calling about an old debt, did not have the name of the credit card correct, seemed iffy to me. Referred him to our attorney.

- yef replies to Hartman| 4 replies"Asking for verification of debt will decrease your chance for this Law Group to help you." This is one of the more idiotic things I have read on this site, and I've seen plenty. In other words, asking for them to obey the law will decrease your chance of them helping you. This does not sound like a company that anybody should want help from anyway! He's just posted his company's phone number... maybe an address can be found too for those that have been wronged by them to pursue further action.
- Hartman replies to yef| 2 repliesI've done some poking around, and it seems evident this KentwoodLawGroup.com is a well-established predatory-telemarketing credit collector. They've been around the block enough to know how to obtain some very in-depth and disturbing information on a person or family well beyond your typical predatory credit collector. It's strange how companies like these are allowed to legally survive in a country like ours.
- getreal replies to Sinister AaronSeriously Mr, Manager... FDIC Regulation 6500, Title VIII, Section 809, subsections a-c... maybe you need to read up on the ENTIRE REGULATION...
- Anthony James| 1 replyWhat Debt? The same Debt you claim not to be yours!
Filthy Scums! You all have this in common lack of sense, liars, won't pay mentality!
These are the reasons. Why we are still in Recession! Banks aren't refinancing homes, creditors not extending credit, lack of work.
Stop Bitching and Pay!!- Caller: Inhouse
- FU2 replies to Anthony JamesI pay my debts. It's you who are doing the bitching because not enough people are falling for your scam.
- Mr.Johny Cage| 4 repliesAttorney's have your signature on these agreements,
You enter with your Bank to repay every dime you used and interest and fees.
What do you think the judge is going to say? Guilty! You've no way of defending
yourself they have your name, social security, address and pay records did you pay with
check, debit card or did you go to your bank and paid cash?
Everything will be used against you at the end you'll repay the Balance and
Attorney's fees! How? The Judge will Make you!! Cases Vary.- Caller: Consumer Advocate
- yef replies to Mr.Johny Cage| 2 replies"Cases vary" ... yeah, especially the ones where the supposed debtor takes your sorry illiterate butt to court for FDCPA violations and the judge orders YOU to pay. You morons refuse to validate the debt because you CAN'T ! If you genuinely own the debt, it is still inside the SOL, and you have followed the law, THEN you can legally sue. But you can't fulfill all of these requirements, so you won't sue. The only way you'll see the inside of a courtroom is as a defendant.
- Resident47 replies to UnknownWould it cost them more than the $3500 average settlement from a FDCPA case for *not* sending the federally required dunning letter? Wow, they need to shop for cheaper attorneys ....
- Resident47 replies to yefWhat, you think passing out evidence of legal violations isn't helpful?
I wonder how far Corona is from Montclair, CA, where Kentwood-slash-Susan Blush is listed? - Resident47 replies to HartmanWorks for me. I would simply add their use of "in-depth and disturbing information" as a weapon to my civil complaint. There's always room for abuse and oppression counts, and a few grand tacked on for emotional distress.
- Sir Bedevere replies to yef| 1 replyYou made just one mistake, Yef: Violation of the FDCPA is a *criminal* offense, not a civil one, so the judge won't make him pay money. "Johny Cage" will be spending time *in* a cage.
- Resident47 replies to Sir BedevereDo I read you, that a judge can't order a Fair Debt damage award? Maybe I should notify the judge who signed my order of her foolish error? Gosh, I just got through depositing the fat check from my defendant, too.
While bad collectors are (too) infrequently escorted from their offices in handcuffs, the FDCPA is structured as a "private attorney general" statute.
