harassing phone calls with incorrect information.

I keep getting a phone call from these people who claim to be PLS & Associates looking for someone they are claiming to be my sister when I don't even have a sister but won't take me off their list because I am tied to that person in their system.

Did anyone figure out what is up with this phone call

I recently got a call from same number. Did you ever find anything out about the call

Tell them not to call or contact you again. If they do it's a violation of FDCPA poicy and punishable by law. Not only is the company responsible, but the individual can be independently sued for a voilation as well.

I was contacted by a gentleman that was claiming to be a legal rep for a collection agency. He stated that I had written a bad check from a Wells Fargo account back in 2009. Due to never resolving this issue, I was being taken to court and sued for $3000+.  He stated that if I made arrangements to pay an agreed upon amount then they would retract the court documents from litigation. When I agreed to settle to $600 is when things got strange. He gave me a Bank of America account number and told me to go to my nearest branch and deposit money in that account. When I had done that I was to call him back and give him the transaction number. This sent a red flag high into the sky for me. I called Wells Fargo and they check Chex Systems and didn’t find any delinquent accounts associated with my Social Security number. I also called Bank of America and they stated that the method that this company was attempting to have me pay to was in the parameters of a scam. I called a friend who works for a repeatable  collection agency and they had not record of this company.  I called the company again and asked for an account number for “my” Wells Fargo account. The gentleman got extremely defensive. This information that I collected from this “company” is as follows…

Got a strange call also. They even didn't said who they are.

Had a weird voice mail left on my cell. A robotic female voice trying to sound uber official, tossing around phrases like "last known records" and "before litigation" blah blah. The call back number left was for this number...1-888-310-6510, but the call was sent from "No Name" at 602-903-1216.

Have received a phone call from 949-612-9212 every day for nearly two weeks now.  I don't answer because I don't recognize the number, and until today, they haven't left a message.  The message they did leave was very ominous.  They did not identify themselves or who they were calling for, used threatening language, and left a callback number of 888-310-6510.  I couldn't find anything googling the 949 number, so I googled the 888 number and found this thread.  Its more phony debt collection scammers.

I have also recently received a few calls from this number in the last week, but they do not leave a message. In the past I have received calls similar to the financial bank scams described above, but from a different phone number, not from 888-310-6510.

It's interesting, though, that when Googling 888-310-6510, one of the results is a phone number to contact a company named Carlton Global, via Amazon.com. I did recently purchase an item on Amazon that was sold by that same company, Carton Global, but fufilled by Amazon. I wonder if the call was a scam call like the ones noted above from this phone number, or if it was something related to my recent order (which has already been processed and received in the mail). I wonder if it's a shady company that sells through Amazon, then uses the customer's contact information to attempt to scam them at a later date? It's odd, and a bit troubling that the phone number is associated with both Amazon orders AND reported fraudulent scams, and worrisome how much information they may have on us, and how it's obtained and used.

Has anyone else who received a call from this number also recently placed an order on Amazon, and was it sold under the company name "Carlton Global"?
