I received a call from robo caller Helen (888) 310-9874 and she left a voice mail to contact her regarding documents they to need to send to me. When I called back I spoke to Michelle who said that her company name was PRS and she worked in Mediation Dept. She was advising me that a civil suit was being processed in my county against me for a Payday loan I received from Dell financial loans. I asked here for her business address and she became very hostile asking me why. I told her that I wanted it for my records. She claimed she did not have to give it out because she wasn't doing anything but informing me of my situation. I asked her if she was about to try and scam money from me and was told no, that she was letting me know I was in trouble. She said that she did not call me that I called her. What?? I told her that her COMPANY called me and asked to return the call. I also told her that if "Helen" called me again, I would be more than happy to contact the proper authorities. She hung up on me...

Same thing just happened to me. They said they were going to arrest me. They were very rude and couldn't give me any details, just that I was in trouble and they wanted money.

What they are doing is illegal.  Even if you did owe money,  arrest will not happen.  Do not worry or waste any time with these thieves who use scare tactics to extort money from you.

I have gotten calls saying the same thing, but I can't think of a payday loan I owe too. I've had some but have paid. So I shouldn't respond?

Got the for Helen too. They said that my ex-wife was facing three fraud charges. They said should contact her about getting name off there papers. I said none of this makes any sense. I was then told good luck. I don't believe it was a scam. I believe it was [***] sick internet joke. Since I was unable to find a owner of the number.

I have had a number of calls the last one was from Helen.  They have to provide proof that you owe the money and if it is a debt that is over 6 years old they have to have filed a lien to collect.  Don't give them any information.  Don't even confirm your last four of your SS#.   It is hard not to get nervous if you have had any issues in the past like I have.  The information here came from someone that was a debt collector.   If you run a background check on yourself you will find if you have any liens.   If you should have something in your past they can open it back up if you give them anything.  Be careful

This a a debt collection scam.  Being in ordinary civil debt is
NOT a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.   We do NOT
have debtors prisons in the US.

    Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.

No. Do not respondent.   This is a debt scamming operation.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

Debt collectors cannot file liens.  Liens are strictly controlled by
state law.  Debt collectors have to go to court, get a judgment and
then depending on state law, a lien can be created.  But this is
a debt scamming operation nevertheless.  See my other entry.

Helen Bailey, the fax order lady--strikes again.
    Calls from the following numbers:
    888-207-9770
    888-314-0510
    888-292-9397
May call from other numbers.  Total scam.
Ignore and block any calls received from this Helen Bailey, or PRA, or
PRS.  I believe these acronyms refer to the Piedmont Recovery scam.

My wife got a call at my home while I was at work.  She said they were very rude and would not give her any information like the name of the company or what the supposed "debt" is, or how old it is.  They just said I had two complaints filed against me and if I didn't call them back they would start "the proceedings" and I would be served and all that crap.  They called again today and now said they have an order for arrest for me if I don't call them back.

I highly doubt this is legit.  Shady as hell to me...
