Called and left message that my ss# is being used fraudulently and legal actions are being taken against me. NO other information. My guess is scam.

Left a VM on my real number.  Female voice stating the following "*** Have been filed onto your social security number for fraudulent activity.  So when you get this message kindly call us back on our hotline number 888 311 2356, I repeat that is 888 311 2356.  Don't disregard this notice and return the call before we begin with the legal proceedings against you, thank you."  So I called the number back from another phone, pressed 0 to speak to a representative, and was asked to leave a message.  Minutes later, I received a call on the secondary number (not listed, private company number) and it was them.  They stated they were from the social security administration.  They asked for my name, gave them a fake name.  Asked for my zipcode and I gave them one from my old home town that I knew was valid.  They came back, wanting my middle name, gave them a fake middle name and they asked if I was 27 years old.  I said I was not and they dropped the call.

The thing is, I did a search for the fake name I gave them, and for the zip code, and there is an actual person with that name and age in the Zip code I provided.  Scam scam scam.  The IRS and the Social Security Administration will NEVER CALL YOU!  They will mail you using the US postal service.

If you are bored, waste their time.  Feed them fake information.  This prevents them from calling unsuspecting people by wasting time on you.

Same thing happened to me. Had this problem a year ago also

Suspicious spam, robo voice, stating that there's been fraudulent activity regarding my Social Security and that legal actions would be filed against me if I didn't return their call.
