- Call type: Debt collector
- jackGotten many calls like this one. Caller states his name with " the filing division " . What idiots no company name just call phone number or they will serve papers lol. Who calls multiple times to tell you to wait at home and be served and oh yea have 2 forms of id on you. They are scams. Any legit collector can leave business name address and phone with extension and provide proof of debt or kiss my A@$

- steph replies to DawnDid they say what company they were calling from?
- Jessica| 2 repliesJust got a call stating that it was "payment processing" calling and that they wanted me to call them in regards to payments that were denied by my financial institution. They did not use a company name, my name, or my financial institutions name. Scam?!
- Geoff HartmanGetting multiple calls about employee that is no longer here (gone for years) we've asked repeatedly to remove us from the list
- shelly replies to JessicaJust received same call and when I called # back, they informed me that the person who called me was not at the location but, they could help me. I asked," what is the name of your company" and was informed Northern Group but, nothing else.
- AdamSomeone from this number keeps calling me and they refuse to answer any questions I have. They keep threatening me with non sense crap so I hang up, but I'm very tired of it.
- Shanese CampbellPeople keep calling for a woman named Shanese Campbell on my number, many calls re: payday loans being approved and awaiting claim or angry Indian-accented men stating legal action will be taken. Someone has used my phone number (randomly maybe?!) to apply for loans and now that phone number (my phone number!) is being jostled from list to list it seems. The call from this specific (888) number seems to be falling into that fold of scamming people to call back to prevent some mysterious legal action being taken. The message left was regarding my needing to be prepared to be visited at my place of employment to sign documents for something, I would need two pieces of ID, a human resources rep as witness, and my employer. I could "put a stop order on this service" if I were to call this same number back. The woman leaving the message said something jumbled and impossible to make out clearly at the beginning, otherwise I have no idea who this is or what it's about, and they did not mention either Shanese's name or my name.
I blocked this number on my phone so I don't anticipate getting more calls. But if this persists, I may lodge a complaint with my City or State's Attorney General team or consumer affairs to begin tracking complaints about this number. Many times this is just an Internet form you can fill out quickly, with the intent to make a record with the attorney general or consumer affairs so that there is official documentation that can be tracked and followed up on on behalf of multiple complainants. Yuck to this scam! Good luck yall! - Kellie| 5 repliesI received a message on my work voice mail from a woman who said her name was Linda Schaeffer. She was a private courier who had some field documents for me to sign. I would need 2 forms of ID, supervisor, human resources rep, etc. Pretty much same as above. So I called back (insert evil laugh here). The person they were looking for was a Chastity Hunter, a name which has never been associate with the business number they called. They asked if this was Chastity Hunter, I told them yes. They ask me to verify the last 4 digits of my social security number (3771 - not my real SSN but I said yes). First Jonathan told me that a lawsuit had been filed in my county about a 2 week payday loan I'd taken out online through Bayside Payday Loan's subsidiary SGQ, LTD. I told them to go ahead and serve me the papers, that I no longer worked at the number I called. I gave them my "correct" work address which happens to be local county sheriff's office, I told them I worked in the investigations department and they could serve me there but it was odd that the sheriff couldn't find me to serve the lawsuit since I worked in his office. Jonathon assured me that a lawsuit hadn't been filed yet and asked if I was waiving arbitration. I said yes. Bring me the papers at my new office. He said they would. I have the entire conversation recorded. Curious to see if they show up to serve me. Since I have friends in the sheriff's department I'll know if they do. But I bet they don't.

- GG replies to Kellie| 1 replyI had the same lady call me too and she said to make sure that I was available between 12 and 5 at my job so that she could serve me with the same "field documents". I called and told them that they'd better have a county deputy or the sherriff with them when they come to my place of employment. They assured me that they DID NOT need to have local law enforcement with them to serve me. I just giggled and told them that they obviously do not know the law and that was fine if they did not have a local deputy with them, I have a friend that is a county deputy and I would make sure that he was here to verify their claims. Then the dumbass asked, "why"? I just gigled again and told them because I want to see the look on Linda Schaeffer's face when she gets placed in handcuffs for committing a 3rd degree felony. He told me that serving someone is not a felony. I told hiim that is true but, impersinating a process server without being licensed is. There is nothing on my county website indicatring any pending suit. Nothing on my credit report to back this up either. These people are Bullsh** artists and think that they have ground to stand on. Don't fall for it people. It'll be funny when the grouind they think they have crumbles beneath their little game. I'll update you between 12 and 5 today when I get "served"! HAHA!!!
- Kelsy replies to Kellie| 2 repliesGot the same call. Anyone show?
- tray| 5 repliesI got it too today from the same name "linda schaffer". I called it back and asked to speak with linda the courior who would be bringing me papers being as she had JUST called from +1 330-812-3609. Yet when i called back it was some random guy. Told me to just call the 888 number to avoid getting papers and to pay them (which they claim it's for a payday loan..which any i have taken were paid off years ago..also none on my credit report). I again asked to speak with linda. I was put on hold for about 3 minutes, taken off hold and immediately hung up on lol. Nothing since then. What's interesting is I'm sure people getting this call from linda who is serving the papers are probably not even in the same state. How could she be everywhere to serve everyone in different cities and states on the same day. Ridiculous scam. People should be ashamed to actually have a job to scam people!!!
- MJG replies to tray| 4 repliesYou are NOT warned if a summons is coming. That is a scare tactic & the caller hopes you will pay them so the summons will go away. You can not buy your way out of delivery!
- tray replies to MJG| 3 repliesI prefer now to just be served and then take care of it because I've had way too many scam calls. Even had to cancel my cards a few times. .so serve me papers, i have 30 days to reply and contact the lawyer office handling it, and then it will be paid. ..so i was going to tell the courier go ahead and bring the papers! *HUNG UP* lol. This company has called many times from different numbers im pretty sure...and I've been served papers for a past debt specifically to make sure it wasn't a scam and you don't need two forms of ID or a witness..i think they are just trying to make people fearful that they will be embarrassed at work. ..good luck to them because whatever information of mine they stole, hacked, or bought, i don't even work anymore..so they can threaten going to my work all they want lol. The other thing that is interesting is my number is only a year old and wouldn't have ever been associated with past debt from 2012 (claim these are unpaid loans from a date that's so old that i don't have the information or even the same bank account to get records from then)..so they got this number somewhere and my information that would have never been associated with anything in the past. This isn't the only company there are tons that do this. Even called my courthouse and there is nothing filed against me, which they would have record if there was a pending case which that would be open if you are being served papers...all a scam. My courthouse actually said they have been getting lots of calls lately from people getting calls about the same stuff. It's the time of year for tax fraud, identity theft, etc. Here's an idea scammers GET A REAL JOB
- BigA replies to tray| 2 repliesIt is incumbent upon them to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it. Not the other way around.
This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, etc. all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php - tray replies to BigA| 1 replySo far all of the random numbers that call and say i owe money can't tell me for what company. They have said, including this one, "it's a pay day loan but we collect for multiple companies so it could be for a few different companies" HUGE RED FLAG. Along with threatening with jail, court, that a sheriff will come arrest me, etc. They also only offer to email information and think that will magically get me to pay (NOTHING IS VALIDBY EMAIL. COURTHOUSE EVEN SAID THAT). There is now even one that is calling my mom sometimes 7 times a day saying they are trying to reach me about a case against me etc (which was originally why i called the courthouse..and of course, nothing). I think there is record of payday loans i did take and DID pay off in 2012 that these companies hacked into to try and scam people about it. I've had my card number stolen and used twice in the last 2 years so I'm sure my info is just out there for all these idiots.
- CWG40 replies to KelsyNobody will show. THis is a scam meant to scare you into paying them something. DON'T FALL FOR IT. Read the other posts.
- BigA replies to trayPayday loan companies are shysters and borderline criminals if not actually criminals. There is no doubt that they would do anything for a buck and that would include selling your information to these criminal debt collectors.
- GG replies to KelsyAs predicted, Ms. Schaeffer did not show.I called them again and said that I've been waiting for her. The gentleman asked me if I though this was a joke? I told him that no, this was a scam and he was the joke. Then asked again, for an address for the company he and Schaeffer work for. He laughed and said f*** you and hung up. Classy organization. These people are low life's. Don't fall for any BS they hurl at you.
