Received a text message saying my Apple iCloud ID was used to make a purchase for $143.95 in Apple Store in CA. Further stated there were suspicious sign-in requests and to call this “888” number to speak with Apple rep.

Same thing happened to me! I got the same message. I didn't call - but I checked both my Apple account and my bank account and couldn't find any charges. Thank you for reporting this!

Got same as a text message for same charge amount. Did not call back number but googled it and this thread was top of list!

I received the same message about Apple account for the same amount -scam. Do not touch, delete.

Received same call yesterday about noon for same $ amount. Probably a scam?

I received the same exact text message with the same dollar amount from a similar 888 number. I immediately did a quick internet search to see if it was a real number or a scam.
