I got the same call.  We are one month behind on our loan.  Spoke with a young man at that number and he was great!  I told him that I did not agree with the terms of the remod and he agreed with me.  We called the collections dept number and reworked our loan.

I started asking questions when some as# called me and said I had been approved for this "Help America Stay in homes [***]".  I had not filed any paperwork or called anyone and I get a call saying hey congrats.

I guess this is how Obama is going to pay back all the billions he has spent.  Put people on this program have them skip one payment and then take their home.  The middle class should be able to cover all his bills.

Got a call from a Chris at the Retention Center for B of A. This is a scam. Be careful. B of A should be mailing you correspondence relevant to your loan modification and not having a rep contact you. These are debt collection companies who pass on your information to companies who want to modify your loan for fees. Just be careful!

This IS Bank of America's Home Retention or HOPE team number. If you have a mortgage with them and this number shows up, it's for a reason. If you're not comfortable just call the main mortgage number of 1-800-669-0102 and follow the prompts. Bank of America does not approve or deny anything verbally/over the phone, only in writing. Also, they are required, by law, to say they are attempting to collect a debt (mortgage) and that the call may be recorded (safety net for both of you.) Hope this helps.

our loan is thru gmac so i don't know why b of a would be calling us.  yes, we just paid our re-instatement fees to stop foreclosure proceedings but that has nothing to do with b of a.

i heard a lot of talking in the background but no message was left.

Got the same call from Napoleon - very strong accent. came up on my phone as "Restricted" which scared me. Also, he wants me to fax him all kinds of confidential info (i.e. tax returns, bank statements, pay stubs). I really don't feel comfortable with this! Said I was missing paperwork that I know I mailed. Needed page 3 but couldn't tell me what page 3 was.
