They called my mom saying the sherriff was going by her house to be serve her papers to summon s her to court over an old credit card bill her dead husband owed over 10 years ago. Said she needed to sign a paper when the sheriff comes by her house that she was being sued and needed to show up to court because she could not settle with the 500 dollars he owed over 10 years ago. My mom did not pay because she did not have the money but believed the whole thing. Wtf?

Yes, of course the whole thing would "disappear" if she paid. It is called extortion. Now, simple thing to do is call the courthouse and ask if your mom's  name is listed as Defendant in any civil proceedings. It won't be and I bet the Sheriff is not going to deliver any papers either.  A debt that is 10 years old is most likely barred by the Statute of Limitations and no lawsuit can legally be filed. But I would tell them to go ahead and deliver those papers. I would then tell them that once those papers are delivered you will have their company name and address and you will be filing a counter suit for FDCPA violations. That should shut them up.

This "firm" has been calling my ex- husbands brothers stating a summons was for me. Had all my info but account they mentioned was indeed a fraud account. They stated they are taking me to court. Jason Precott is the "attorneys" name. None of the local law enforcement agencies have any record of this case at all. Scam.

They called me telling that owned Wells Fargo money and that they served me papers and that a sheriffs deputy was coming to my home. First of all I have never had Wells Fargo and secondly they told me it was 10 years ago. Ten years ago I was living in another state so they would not be coming to my home all of the sudden now to collect. So I called the Los Angeles county police department and they told me there was no record for my arrest. So I called them back and told them they were a scam and to never call me again.

Scam phone call about some process server crap. What really bothered me about this one is that they also phoned my friend to leave me that same message. Don’t fall for this.

This 1-888-325-7290 number has called me personally and as of today has called my job. They told my boss they have been trying to accept to deliver paperwork to me personally but have gotten no respons from me. They don't identify who they are or what company they are working for. Just that these papers that they have have to be delivered personal to me in person.

    BTW
Some lady called said she was calling from our county’s processors office. They had tried twice now to deliver papers. Gave me a case number and the 888-325-7290 phone number to call back. But called from an unknown number. Said I had been notified. I can’t remember if she used my maiden or married name. I hate people like this and hopefully nobody is gullible to fall for this BS!
