They just called me a few minutes ago - I did not answer since I saw the number on Caller ID.

They just called and did not leave a message.  No info on caller id, but the toll free number is a sign to not pick it up!

No-one ever say anything when I answer the phone,so don't call me at all !!

Called on Feb. 17--800-Service, so did not pick up.  It's the first time they've called (I keep a list of these numbers in a word-processing file, so that's how I can go back and check.)  Did not leave a message. If they call again and still no message, then I'll block them, either through my phone or through my phone company. As someone pointed out, the "Do Not Call" list unfortunately does not apply to charities or anyone you've ever done business with (like a bank), so blocking them yourself is about the only alternative. Or the FCC if it's really harassing and obnoxious.
Any charity or business that thinks this "service" is a good idea makes me think their management is lousy, and I"m not about to contribute or do business with them. Maybe we need a good op-ed piece or letter to the editor of our local newspapers to get this idea more into the light, where hopefully someone with some management power will see it. This won't work, of course, with scams, where someone is trying to trick the gullible, but we might be able to lessen the impact of charities and businesses. (Wells Fargo, you're next.)

fyi do not call does not include non for profit. we are harrassed daily by such calls.

first time this number has called...I see from the posts that it is a charity....why can't we also stop charities from calling? If I want to contribute, I will, but not if you keep calling and harrassing me....

It is the Autism Foundation. If you call the number, you will be given an option for more information (press 1). At the end of their short message, you will have the option to "opt-out" of any future calls. Once you've keyed in your phone number, it is against the law for that particular organization to call you again from ANY of their series/blocks of numbers.

Thanks so much to EK for giving this advice.  I tried it and it worked well although you have to press 3 before you press 1.  Recommend listening closely to the prompts.  You saved me a lot of frustration with these calls.
