Did you ever figure out who this is? I got a phone call from them as well!

They go by c&a associates, they say to call in ask for the legal department.. blah blah blah, its another one of those convoluted debt collection scams

I got a phone call from a different number (713-139-4571) telling me that it was urgent that I call 888-330-9498 or officers would be coming to my home.  They said that the court would proceed without me if I didn't call but it was imperative that I call them within 3 hours.  They gave me a legal case number.

I know enough to know that process servers don't call before serving subpoenas, they show up and surprise you either at home or at work.  I also know that any valid debt collector will say who they are and "this is an attempt to collect on a debt".   What really got to me was that they called my mother-in-law looking for me or at least someone by my name.  They were threatening her and she was so upset that she gave them my cell phone number.  I was very frustrated that they got her so upset.

Who are these people?!

I too got the same message stating that they were a collecting a debt from a client never did specify what client never did specify what company they was from just gave me a name of Selena and that's all so let them serve the papers if they have any and if they don't then scam

My son got the same message for someone .We don't have anyone by that name in our family. so he gave the number to me. I called them back. Told them that if they are the same scam that called me. Of course they hung up.

i just got the EXACT call re: my sister!  scared the hell out of me as she's never been in trouble in her LIFE!  i was flipping out until i found this message board,  thank you nancy, thank you 800 notes, thank you internet!  sheesh!

They just called me from 713-538-8845.  regarding my sister.  scared the hell out of me.  said they could put a 3 hour hold on it, then her case would proceed without her, if she didn't call them at (888) 330-9498, ask for the legal department, and give a reference #.  they gave me an address that she lived at maybe 10 years ago.  i called my sister and freaked HER out, then was like wait... i looked up the # and found this board.  thanks goodness for the internet.  Bad people!  I wonder how they scam you?  I'm gonna call them back and see what info they try to get from me.

Yeah, I just got a call from (713) 538 - 8846 telling me that they have a subpoena to appear in court.
They had a case/file number and an 8 year old address.

When I asked a few questions, they told me to contact the "Law Firm" which can be reached at (888) 330-9498
Sounded ridiculous so I looked up the number and found this thread.

I got the same call. They call my husband and my brother. Unfortunately for them my brother answered and caught on right away. He went off on them so bad that I cant even repeat what he said. They eventually hung up on him and he proceeded to keep calling them back and kept getting a voicemail. So he read Go Dog Go to the voicemail,and kept calling back until he finished the book, LOL! Eventually it said the MAGICJACK customer cant be reached!! Come on!!!

They called my job while I'm in the hospital claiming I must call back for my court date and the judge allowed them to call with the case number for me to call and get my court date. Who are these people they have no right calling an employer

Got a call to my corporate office and finally got sent to me. Lady said she was going to serve me at work so needed my manager. Told her I was the supervisor and didn't know what she was talking about. Gave me # of 888-330-9498. Said I had a balance with Stage/Bealles and they were going to serve me. Gave them my home address and asked when did they plan on serving me since I am never home. I would make sure I was there to get any papers. Said my principal balance was $1590.17! After interest was $3882.50! Told her in the state of Oklahoma they do not add interest AND when I got this credit card I was 18 years old! I was approved for $200 so no way did I ever charge that much. I told her I would definitely make this "court date". She then said "are you prepared to have this taken out of your wages" I said "in the state of Texas wage garnishment is NOT allowed so that won't happen. And what county is this "court" going to take place again?" She said she had none of the details, she was only told to get in contact with me but she didn't have specifics. She stated they are located in California and would let them know to serve me at home not at work. I also told her to remove my place of employment phone number and I would see them in court!

Several points -
1. You are not warned if a summons/court case is coming.
2. Wage garnishment is done by court order (not because she says so).
3. Refusing to give company information is a violation of the FDCPA.
4. She has "none of the details" but gave you the entire song & dance???

I too got a call telling me about some legal action and they wanted me to call 888 330 9498. When i called the numbet I told the opeeator that some crook called me and asked me to call the number. He acted like he was not part of the fraud. I asked him if he had any business with me. He played dumb and got sarcastic. I also told him he was a crook if he is involved in this scam and hung up.

Received a phone call today. Was told to call 888 330 9498. Provided no information on who filing a court order. She stated the only thing she had was my address and I was going to be served papers to appear in court. I called the # given and ask if this was fraud and the person hung up. Not sure what they are doing.

Good info. These freaking scumm bags need to go to prison for the harassment that cause and God knows how much $$% they scam people out of with their old as time "get served papers" scam. Officers would never be part of a collection of debt. Ever!!

Someone just.called my elderly parents and said the same thing. Wow!!! There should be some consequences about scaring elderly people like this. I'm so glad I looked up this number and found this.

Scammers! I called and finally had one of the "agents" admit it is a scam. Call them and harass them, every minute  of their time you take up is one less victim they can scam. They have no web site and won't give a physical address.  These are nasty people they target elderly and inexperienced people. Do not fall  for this and DO NOT send them money for any reason.
