Lee thanks for your post. I was trying to use my computer and then a page popped up on my browser stating to call 1-888-341-2001 to have a virus removed from my computer. It startled my at first because the page was in all red then there was a another pop up message in a white box. I did a google search for the phone number and found your post on this page.

I called this number too.. I work from home so I panicked and I thought all my information was lost... I called them and asked them if they were with Bell and he said..whatever your computer says and then I hung up.  I hope nothing happened.. I closed the browser and I'm running a Norton Antivirus scan right now.

Don't call the number. I saw it when I was using my internet browser and it had a popup that said that my internet provider was detecting suspicious activity, and that I needed to call the number.

It's just another virus. Just close out of your browser and do a virus scan on your computer and it'll find the problem and you can fix it.

I got a error message on my computer saying that my search history was suspicious and to call a 1-888-341-2001.  I did call and the caller on the other end sounded suspicious and I hung up.. Then I did research and it showed that they are a hacking group.. Don't fall for it.  This is the virus that they used hacktool:win/32/autokms

I got an error and called the number and talked with the tech for a few minutes, I did allow remote access and figured this was a scam because he wasn't doing anything, just talking, I made the comment that he was just wasting my time nd not resolving anything, he said I was rude and I was disrespectful and he hung up, I did a scan and nothing has happened to the computer. The guys name was Michael

So got call last night from this number. First person I spoke to was a man with thick accent, then after saying no, thank you (lost track of how many times), he put me on the phone with a woman who explained they rec'd an urgent message from System Mechanic that my computer was in serious trouble....my bank account info, mortgage info, etc. was hacked. I told her that I didn't have system mechanic...she insisted that in 2014 we bought a support package for $149.00 and I have a special customer ID, etc. I was on the phone probably 10--15 minutes wasting her time.....nothing interesting was on TV at the moment...so if I waste their time so be it. That was last night at 9:08 pm and today 3 more calls from that number.
