I just got one 10 minutes ago - also from US Bank - actually has to laugh at how bad the recording is. Total SCAM and FRAUD. DO NOT fall for it. The first clue was the text came from 6198203@vtext.com - a legit bank would NEVER send a message from this type of address.

Got one.. texted back that they were being monitored by the Fraud Hotline

I started to fall for this and I'm afraid they have my SSN. That's as far as I got before I realized it wasn't my bank.
Please don't judge me, but is there anything I can do at this point in time to protect myself?

I began to fall for it because i actually do get notifications from my bank, and also from my phone company which is verizon and my number is very similar to the the number it came from. But in all seriousness, does anyone know any protective measures I can take. as far as my SSN goes?

Got a Vtext Text from 6198203@vtext.com. It said U.S. Bank Urgent Notification. Call: 888-344-3841. I of course DID NOT CALL. First clue--They aren't even my bank, second--it came from Vtext. Third--it gave a number not linked to U.S. Bank. NEVEr ever call one of these numbers back. Scammers=dirt bags

Get a fraud alert placed with the major credit bureaus (google and call them). Monitor your credit lines to watch out for new accounts.

Received a text message from 6198203@vtext.com. Message said U.S. Bank Urgent Notification. Call (888) 344-3841. Figured it was a scam of some sort. Just ignored and didn't bother to call.

I got two texts from 6199934@vtext.com.  First said US Bank and the second Bank of America, both using the same 888-344-3841 callback number.  Called the number after the first text,and got a recording to enter my SSN. I tried texting back the original message, but it was returned as an error, invalid user info.  SCAM!  Forward these emails to spam@uce.gov,  Part of FTB.org

This is a scam from NIGERIA they said WELLS FARGO- a bank will NEVER email you, text or call you requesting information-they have all your information.

Contact US Bank, 888-344-3841 blah, blah, blah....   took a while to contact Verizon to report fraud messages on their system.

888 483-7200 is C/S for reporting Verizon fraud...
