- KristieI was working on my computer and a message popped up that Windows Defender detected the Zues virus and then it told me to call 877-297-2046 in order to unlock my computer. I called like an idiot and the man said he was Microsoft Tech Support and he needed remote access to my computer. So, again falling for it, he showed me like 1500 files with a supposed virus on my computer. I started to get suspicious when he told me that I had to buy a protection plan for 199 or 299 if I had any passwords saved to my computer. He asked me if I had accessed my bank account from the computer and all sorts of accounts. That's when I shut off my computer to terminate the remote access and told him I would call him back. I called the real Microsoft and they told me it was a scam. Not even 5 minutes later he called trying to get me to give him access again! Called 20 times harassing me. Don't give them any info because the five minutes that he had access to my computer, he really screwed it up. I had to restart the entire computer to factory settings and it's still saying that it can't erase some of the files. Even though I'm trying to erase it all, I'm going to have to take it to a professional. Worst day of my life! Thank god it was my school computer and I backed everything up to one drive, but I did lose a lot too. DON'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE! My computer wouldn't even turn back on for a while.
