- Not a sucker| 2 repliesCaller ID said 3-719-999-9999 and caller left voice mail identifying himself as Melvin from the IRS saying I've been reported for tax evasion and he is going to court to have me arrested. He said call 888-392-8407 if I wanted more information and "have a nice day - good boy". Really bad accent and obvious scam.
- Also Not A SuckerJust listened to a voicemail from "Melvin." He never said any name associated with the call, just to call if you want more information. Nice try, Melvin. Good Bye!
- HunterLeft a message and I called back. As soon ask I asked Melvin for a badge number and his supervisor, the call basically ended. Not sure what his intention was. It was almost like a crank call
- No Foolrec'd a call from this number that I will be arrested for tax evasion and to call this number for more information. Seems like a scam. What is the story with this?

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so. - AudreyI received a call claiming they were from the IRS and they were coming to arrest me for back taxes.. this person had a strong accent. I do not owe any back taxes so I knew this was a cam. You should report this number to the IRS for fraud.
- Old and wise| 1 replyI received calls from 888 with the last four numbers being different each time. I let the answering machine pick up and was told I was being audited by the IRS and if I didn't call the number back, the county prosecutor or the sheriff would come to arrest me. I knew it was a scam but got curious, so called them back. I told them I received the message, recorded it, and turned it in to the police. The person...with a foreign accent... hung up on me. so I called again and got a different guy. This time he smarted off to me, so I hung up. I called a third time and got some one else. He told me it was meant for my son. I told him my son didn't live here, so I got another hang-up. I then called what I thought was the IRS but dialed the wrong number and got the FBI. So I just asked him about it. He said those calls came from somewhere in Nigeria or some other country, and they try to talk you into paying a certain amount of money to get you off the hook with the IRS. they will also call you back and say they need more money. So yes...it is a scam. It was also mentioned on some of the news networks.

- Badge714 replies to Old and wise". . . I knew it was a scam but got curious, so called them back." - Now why exactly would you want to do that? All you have done is confirm your number is 'live'. To a scammer that's worth money. Got a call? Check it out online & let that be the end of it.
- Badge no 85235Got call today with the same message from Christine Johnson with badge number and case number. But as she was going to record me it hung up. I called backed and Melvin picked up and said wrong number. But the number I got ended in 09.
- TaxVoicemailToday I had received a voice mail reporting "Tax Evasion", Kevin Schol (The name he stated) forgot to ask who he was looking for, which residence he was trying to get to (etc...) He stated his number (1-888-392--8408) His accent was harsh and his words were scrambled. Bad English. It was easily discovered that he tryed to scam us.

- Donna LindstromCame home to the same message. It's still on my answering asking me to call 888-392-8407. I'm so tempted to do what I do when I'm home and answering these calls(do not have caller ID due to very TIGHT BUDGETS)... What I have been doing with telemarketers and others...when I realize it's not anyone I know or want to talk to... I BLOW MY GIRL SCOUT WHISTLE into the phone....hopefully they will get the message....
I'm so tempted to call this # and blow my whistle REALLY REALLY REALLY LOUD AND LONG!
