Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so. - annieReceived a recorded message about some kind of lawsuit (difficult to make out) and the phone number 1 888 392 8426. I called, spoke with "Officer Zac Cooper" of the U.S. Treasury on behalf of the IRS. He had a strong accent, and was also difficult to understand. He said we had a lawsuit being brought against us by the IRS for not complying with a tax audit for past years, and that we would need a criminal attorney. Proceeded to read me an affidavit with all of these threats (bank accounts frozen, jail time, car repossessed). He said that either the courthouse or police department would call me in the morning (which didn't happen). So far, no other scam phone calls. He never asked for any personal information other than my name (which he had from my phone number), and confirmed my address (also from my phone number). He never mentioned payment. What purpose does this kind of scam phone call have? I've heard of ones where they try to get you to make a payment, but this phone call seemed to have no purpose than to intimidate me.
- Caller: U.S. Treasury/IRS

- John in ViennaVoice generator with message that a lawsuit for back taxes has been filed in your name. Asked to call 888-392-8426 before the suit is prosecuted. No answer after 15 rings. Notice and service provisions of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure require more than a robo-call. This is a scam.
