I actually have a written collection notice on a medical bill showing this telephone number (888/400-5751) - it was generated by PFS Group, 7670 Woodway Drive, Suite 250, in Houston, Texas 77063-1519.

Caller asked for a date of birth.  This is a fradulent company, they are phishing for infromation to steal your identity.  They refuse to send written correspondence on request and will not talk to you unless you volunteer private information.  Call police and report it as an attempted identity theft.

I just called this number and spoke to someone.  It's regarding a past due co-pay on a medical bill for a relative who is now deceased.  His insurance should have taken care of the matter and I'm now resolving that issue.  The are indeed a legitimate company.  The woman I spoke to was professional,
    polite and sympathetic.

I have been getting calls from this company off and on over the course of the past year. They say they are calling about outstanding medical bills of my father's, but he isn't even on my phone plan, and I know for a fact that he has no outstanding medical bills. Do not give this company personal information, or to any company that has not sent you documentation of the debt.

This is a legit company, although their collection practices make them seem like they aren't.  They have called me as well, and they do collections for medical providers.  Having said that, don't give any personal information to someone over the phone or agree to make a payment over the phone.  Ask them to provide written documentation to be mailed to you.  But after they send you a bill in the mail, don't just ignore it forever.  Debt collection agencies can file a complaint with the Court (in Maryland, it is usually with the District Court), and if the Court issues a judgment, the agency can garnish your wages until the bill is paid in full, plus filing and attorney's fees.

Asked for my birthdate.  I refused to give.  Asked them to mail me the information, they said they had an inaccurate address for me.  I asked what address they had, they refused to tell me. I've been at this same address for many many years.  Said it was a bill from Methodist Hospital in Houston.  I've never been at Methodist in Houston.  I suspect an attempt at phishing.

    Same Story
A call at my home, asking for my daughter's birth date.  I said, "sure, I'll validate it."  She wanted me to tell her.  I said, "no, I'm not giving information to someone I don't know."  I said that I'd confirm it if she told me what she has in her files.  We went through this four or five times before she said, "have a good day" and hung up.

I'm not going to give them information over the phone unless I know who the hell they are.

These idiots keep calling me.  Claim they are collecting on some medical bill.  2 problems with their story, 1st the bill they keep calling about has been paid, 2nd I never got any documentation from the medical people saying these clowns are authorized to collect the bill.  The only notice I got on that was from PFS.  I suspect they are just another bunch of dumpster diving scumbag escapees from a federal supermax out to scam young people that don't know any better and older folks that may not be as sharp as they once were.  Hoping that the feds shut them down soon and toss their butts in the slammer.

This number showed up on caller id today on a phone number that I gave no one. I have no idea how they got this phone number. I changed my last phone number b/c of strange phone calls but did see this number at that time way before I changed it. Now that i changed the number and that the phone number was only given to two people which would have provided it to no one, this number calls me. The phone is not even listed in my name so how they got this number is beyond me. They may have left a message as it says new voice mail but I have not checked. Either way, do not answer phone calls that you are do not know who is calling or what for unless you are expecting the phone to wring

They can only garnish in some states. Dont be scared, learn your state law.....also know the RSVPS......almost every collection call will have a violation and you can send a recording to an attorney and then collect from them.

Do not give your name or information to these people.  They are phishing to attach loose debts to people.  Apparently someone from a long time ago (before I was born, but with similar names) ran up debt to some hospital in Houston.  They kept calling me and then after I verified my information with these people, they attempted to attach the debt to me (but I wouldn't give them my social).

This practice is wrong and illegal.  Record all phone calls made to you, they have free apps to do this.  It will save you heartache later.
