Gannett is such a slimy company.  Had a mystery $52 charge from them on my Amex and when I questioned the charge, all Amex could tell me was “newspaper subscription.” Had to do some sleuthing, as we subscribe to many publications.Turns out Milwaukee Journal is now a Gannett property and they doubled the annual digital rate without sending a renewal notice. The Journal would never have done this when they were a real newspaper. Putting reminder in calendar to cancel next year.

P.S. I called the Journal Sentinel subscription line rather than this number to find out WTH was going on. Got right through but no chance of refund.

This charge appeared on my bank statement and Chase won't help me.they said the company sent documents. I called the number and they said they were an internet service in I don't remember if it was Ohio or Massachusetts. Everything points to this as a fraudulent company and a scam. I don't subscribe to any newspapers or out of state internet service.

What documents did Chase say they sent that they won't help you?

Well, have you checked Gannett's website to see if you subscribed to something?  https://www.gannett.com/brands/

Have you contacted them?  What documents did they provide?  How could you not know what this is about?  This is your money and it is probably going to be a recurring charge.

I have been charged 5 times in the past month $9.99. I do have a recurring subscription to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, but I called them and they said I'd only been billed once. I disputed the recurring charges, my bank refunded me today and now have ANOTHER $9.99 charge.

I don’t want these charges on my credit card

A charge for an iPhone which was being sent to someone I don’t know was charged supposedly to my Amazon card. I called (guy with foreign accent answered). Wanted me to go to my computer which I refused to do as have been scammed before. He told me charge would be dismissed and new card sent. I called my Amazon credit card. All was well, this iPhone charge was bogus! It is a scam to get into checking account and other credit card information. Do not follow them. Call your credit card directly!!! SCAM!!!

My account just got charged $24, and after looking at my account history the Same people have been charging my card $13 every month for like the last 8 months. I have no idea what this is even for

I, too, have been charged by this Gannett Newspaper Cn.  I do not and have never had any newspaper subscriptions.  Glad I found this page with so many other people dealing with the same issue.  I will be contacting my bank this morning.

This is 11/13/2022 I had subscription to Louisville courier journal and canceled it back in July and still getting billed 9.99 they say they cant find any account of mine so I had to cancel my debit card and get a new one. Now I'm getting emails saying i need to update my payment method because my payment was denied, even though I don't have an account with them.

The same as everyone received notice at 0630 tried charging my Apple Card. Apple Card aka Goldman Saks changed my card number virtually. I never subscribed to any newspapers! Gannet appears to be scamming people

Credit card numbers get "stolen" all the time.  There is a good chance that is what happened here.

Mine was as well.  Customer service was Asian. I just ordered earlier from. TEMU, an Asian company so I assume that is where they got my information.
