- not too happyCalled them and spoke with Chris and got hung up on. Called back and got immediately place on hold, then transferred to a voice mail. Is this place a joke? or a scam? sounds like it to me with their "Better than iron clad guarantee" and customer service so far. Guy was terrible on the phone.

- don't do itThey are a SCAM. The name is National Settlement Services, Inc out of Tampa, Florida, and they are a debt settlement scam and have many different names they go by to hide behind the truth about their joke of a sales room reps and script, and back end service department. Their website BLOWS: looks like it was put together with bubble gum and paper clips. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!
Their other names are:
http://creditcardshortpay.com/
http://problemcreditcard.org/
These next 3 sites they have up are EXACTLY the same. They are shill sites put up under different website addresses and different names. Why would a company have more than one name? Huh.....I wonder.

- Michael| 2 repliesInterestingly I received a letter in the mail from an outfit that didn't even put their name anywhere on the form. I later found that it''s for debt consolidation and the number is 800-403-8820. I did some researching and this number cross-references with a real estate agent in NC. I tried to call this agent to let them know their 800 line is being used by another company but I just got a voice-mail. I then tried to call the 800 number and it said "Welcome to National Settlement Services," and then it places you on hold and then asks you leave your name and number. I hung up. Two minutes later I received a call from an area-code 813, which is Tampa. I never answered. I saw that this 813 # is part of some scam as well so it seems as if there are interlocking scams going on with perhaps many of the same players. I still want to find out about this real estate agent.
- do it yourself replies to Michael| 1 replythey are scams. see the earlier posts. you are smart for avoiding them.

- Alan D.| 4 repliesI am a client of this company. I could not remember their web site so I decided to Google the toll free # I have. I cam across this page and was really surprised to see the negative content!
My experience with National Settlement has been nothing but positive. Some of the comments here dont even make sense, like the one above that says:
"They took all my money and did NOTHING....DID NOT GET ME OUT OF DEBT. National Settlements Services, Inc. in Tampa, Florida 8884303100 is a rip off. I hope everyone sees these posts and stays away from these rip-off artists."
I'm an IT guy by trade and it seems like a jealous competitor trying to use the name and number and wrapping it around negative comments to make it appear in the search engines!
They never took any money from me (in fact their program clearly states they dont take advance fees for anyone entering their program) until they got me a result. I don't know about too many laces that would do that. How can they be a scam if they dont take any money prior to doing what they say? This was a major reason I went with them in the first place.
I received my first settlement (a small one of $680 on a collection account) within the first 2 months of setting up my plan.
So what is my motivation to write this comment other than being an internet geek? This company is the only credible solution I have found to get rid of my debt. I am a customer and loyal to them and it disgusts me to see comments that are clearly disingenuous efforts to discredit a great company to work with.- Caller: National Settlement Services

I have 7 days to bow out but I really need a solution. My credit it screwed either way, I just want to get out from under this weight, but thats alot of money every month if my credit cards are not going to go away.

- WayneI called in, very skeptical, and spoke to a gentleman named chris. He sounded young (early 30s) and very gung-ho about getting me in the program and as i explained my situation to him, he told me not to rush. He gave me the ftc website that you guys put up above, their website, and his # & xt. He assured me that the choice is mine to make, any company willing to do that is either legitimate or practicing the wrong form of buisness.

- Emily Johansen| 2 repliesI too got a card a few months back promising a solution to my credit card problems. The person on the other end of the line seemed polite and professional. I gave them my information and they gave me a monthly budget I could actually afford compared to some other solutions I have tried. SO after hearing they don't charge me anything unless I actually get a settlement I decided what the heck?
So far i have been in the program for 3 months and was called by their rep. advising me a settlement had been reached on one of cards, unfortunately I could not take advantage of it because I haven't saved enough for the down payment.
He asked me if I could get the additional funds elsewhere and when I told him it would be impossible he assured me it wasn't a problem and that we would try again in a few months.
So far, i put in 6 credit cards and 2 medical bills. i have saved $684 and the offer they got on my Citi card was $2400 (I owed over $6000) with $1,000 now and $1,400 over the next 7 months.
I had been going back and forth with Citi for the last 3 months before entering the program and they were nowhere near this flexible with me!
The toughest part for me is the creditors calling me threatening to sue me, but I told them they are free to do so because I dont have anything to give them anyways. Sue me for what I said? Im upside down in my home, and car and have no money!!
I would say, overall, given my situation I am happy with NSS. After my first offer came in I decided to look around online and see what other client's experiences were and after reading some of the comments here they make no sense. Before I signed up I checked them out with the Better Business Bureau, and even though they had some complaints I saw they were all resolved.- Call type: Debt collector
- Shane Marine| 1 replyI am a Consumer Advocate out of Tampa Florida. I have worked and continue to work with numerous law offices and debt settlement companies that provide debt settlement services. I work for Consumer Justice Center, Inc. and we help reduce calls and debt collector harassment, while debtors are dealing with hardship. I can say with 100% complete confidence that this organization is not a scam. Our firm provides advocacy services for National Settlement Services' members. Though debt settlement may not be for everyone, for those who are in need of relief, National Settlement Services is amongst the top 10 companies in America doing debt settlement.
- Caller: National Settlement Services
- billThe truth is this company is not a scam. They don't collect any fees upfront directly. They created the 'consumer justice center' which will handle you're legal/collection calls which collects there $600 in your first 3 payments. They also recieve 30% of the amount they save you when settling your debts. They have a great success rate of settling the debts for clients. The catch is occurs when you have a good credit score...due to how they align you with the creditors, you basically need to let your accounts go delinquint for several months if not longer so the creditor thinks they have no prayer of getting paid unless they settle which will destroy your credit score. Now the paradox of that is if you have high debt to credit ratios, it doesn't matter how high your score is because you're not gonna be able to get many oppritunities to use your credit. So the question is do you settle your debts and free up monthly capital, file bankruptcy or keep paying minimum balances for the decades to come. Weigh out your options and the obvious answer is probably not the best. The recorded portion of there call is the verification segment. They will inform you they are recording. Ask the real questions then. They will squirm and talk around the answers but cannot lie because its the legal part. The sales people make commission for getting you enrolled so make them work for it!

- worried in walla walla| 4 repliesHi, I have read all of the posts here.
I received email telling me that this was my final notice. The letter threatened me with legal action. I have had no dealings with National Settlement Services however, this man by the name of Victor Thompson is sending me harassing emails telling me that he is going to take me to court. His email address is nationalsettlementservices@gmail.com. I first got an email with the wrong ssn. I told him in an email to quit bothering me. I then emailed one of the contact people listed on the National Settlement Services website. NO RESPONSE. I then received another email This time it had the correct ssn i asked him to provide me with what this debt is for. He threatened me and stated that he was going to take me to court. I told him that this was harassment and that I had no dealings at all with this company and that I have contacted all of my legitimate creditors and none of them are threatening to send me to jail for non payment. In fact all of my creditors are working with me., I told Victor Thompson to leave me alone. He sent another email today with poor grammar, words spelled wrong and told me that I should ask God for help. He also told me to get a good Federal Attorney because he would see me in court. I told him that i would be happy to meet him in court because the law would be on my side. I told him that he needed help from God. We live in America and no one gets thrown in jail over a debt. And it is illegal and a bad business practice not to provide in writing legitimate debts. I learned that from the Federal Trade Commission. I hope they leave me alone. I am going to ignore them.- Caller: Victor Thompson At National Settlement Services
