- sMiLe4eVeR| 20 repliesI got a call two days in a row from the N.A.R. Group, Inc. concerning a debt that they said that I did not pay. I spoke with several people from the agency, one specifically saying her name was "Andrea" then "Melissa" and "Jessica" and finally "Andrew." All of the females sounded the same. One of the females said that I would be served papers at a particular address, and then the next day it was a different address. They said that I could be facing jail time for bad check writing or forgery of some sort?! Also, she kept calling me sweetie, in fact, more than one of the female names called me sweetie. Was it the same person or not? I have read other people's posts about N.A.R. They emailed a document stating they would collect the debt of the certain amount, but were willing to settle for less?! The female spoke about a plantiff and having until 5 p.m. to call her back, and when I asked the man why I was told I was told I would go to jail, or face charges, he said that he does not know who told me that!? The stories were inconsistent. And my previous debt was paid 2 years ago! I am apalled, shaken up, frightened, and mad at the same time! I am writing a complaint to the FTC, and going to file a complaint with the IC3.gov! This is horrible, I had to leave work early, and was just completely unecessary! It is a cruel world out there, and I am a law abiding citizen. Does anyone else have any words of wisdom about this matter!?
Thank you!- Caller: N.A.R. Group, Inc.

- Monica MazurkiewiczHe left a message on my machine saying that there was a complaint against my social security. The message was very vague, nasty, abrupt, offered no insight. My daughter was here, heard the message and told me not to return their call. I owe nothing - sounds like a scam or they are just drawing straws - hoping they get the right person. I have the message saved.

- MeTooMaryI just received a very similar call this afternoon. A gentleman called my place of employment first and left message regarding and issue with my Social Security Card. I returned the call, and the gentleman asked directly what my SS# was. I asked who was calling and he hung up without identifying who he was or where he was calling from. I could hear voices in the background that sounded to me like he was calling from a public resturaunt/bar/grill. I do not owe money to anyone and my bills are paid on time. Somone needs to find this person and put a stop to it. From above posts, sounds like he or they, are targeting mainly women.

- Terry Watson| 1 replyToday, April 30, 2012, a man called me from a "collection agency" stating that I had written a bad check on January 24, 2011 in the amount of $662.81. Now the amount is $912.81 (with interest). I told him that I did not owe anything and that I have "cover charge" on my bank accounts that will not allow a check to bounce. He had my Social Security Number (at least the last 4 digits) and said that it had to be paid TODAY. I told him "I bet it does!!" The bank said that I did not have a check "bounce" on that date so I assume this whole thing is a SCAM to scare people and get money out of them. I "googled" the number he gave me which is 888-466-8858 and it said that 75,000 calls had been made from a string of numbers which did include the 888-466-8858. CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW MUCH MONEY THEY COULD SCAM IF PEOPLE WERE TO PAY THIS WHEN THEY GET THE CALLS??? He informed me that I had to pay this today.

- Call type: Debt collector
- G-Man replies to Jeni95Simple. Never say "Yes, I owe money", but ask for validation of the debt to be mailed to you at the address they have on file. NEVER tell them your address & answer NO questions. By law they have to show proof of debt. Simple as that. If they don't, won't. Ignore it, it's a scam. ALWAYS ask for proof.
- hoopie replies to melvinHey Melvin. Co sell their info and scammers get it and make you think you owe it. So we pay our bills. These people are bottom feeders. Hey Melvin you work for a company like that? Your defending them!
