I get 4 calls a day from this number and my phone tells me it's Potential Spam. I don't answer because if it's important they will leave a message and they never do.

Received calls from this number for the past year. Claiming to discuss the estate of my dead grandfather by full name. His estate was sorted out 2 years ago. Already called his lawyer a while ago... it’s a scam.

Called to ask me about my deceased Dad's estate. I asked them to tell me what company they are calling from and said "Unfortunately I cannot give out those details."

It's a scam. Hang up and blocked them like I did, and then report it here so other's don't give out personal information.

For what it's worth, it sounded like a young woman on the phone. Don't trust these people!

Same here as other posts. I have been getting this call saying they want to discuss my deceased fathers estate. Have no idea how they got my number. They also called my husband right after they called me once and seriously have no idea how they got his number since nothing for mu father had my husbands number listed. I answered the first time and it sounded like a young man and he said the company was Allegient or something. I thought it might be a scan as well and glad I find this post to confirm what I thought. They call me everyday for like a month and do not leave a message. Thanks for the posts. I have now blocked them.

I called this number back, and got an automated bot answering providing the company name, “Ascension Point”. Upon looking this company up on their website, they are apparently based out of Minneapolis, MN.

This phone number appears as a “high spam” call. I wouldn’t go out and buy any Spam though to eat, they might continue to call and harass you about collecting debt from your dead relative’s estate or something.

This is Ascension. They call to collect on dead people's "estates", even after they have been notified that there is no estate, no money and no chance of recovery of a deceased person's bill. This company works on behalf on Synchrony Bank, which is a credit company that finance many companies like amazon and even your local furniture stores. Be advised that they are in no position to sue an estate...particularly if there IS none. My uncle died 2 years ago and they STILL hound my cousins because my aunt is now dead, as well.

It just happens that they are trying to collect a debt for that bank.  I am sure that they represent lots and lots of different creditors.  However the solution is very easy.

You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt, and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/
    http://www.consumeradvocates.org/find-an-atto ... tates_value=All

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two or more federal and state agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

BBB gives them an accredited A+ rating with 44 complaints and 49 negative reviews (BBB removed 24 complaints so that they could up the rating from an A to an A+, probably cost these crooks money for that boost) and 2 positive reviews written by employees as of 5/3/2021:  http://www.bbb.org/minnesota/business-reviews ... ds-mn-96102378/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

They have repeatedly called my father-in-law asking him to confirm information on his deceased wife (she passed away last year). They will not give him any information until he verifies her name, date of death, and last 4 of her SS number. He hangs up each time. There are no outstanding accounts in her name that he or anyone else is aware of. Assuming this could be a scam.
