    Disappointed
On July 19, 2012 I got a call from someone calling himself Allen Foster.  He said that through Mega Millions I had won $650,000 and that it would be delivered to me by Fed-Ex today between 10 and 2.  Of course nothing came.  I called the number back and was told a story about the check being hung up in New York at customs and I would have to pay over $3,000 (fully refundable) to get my check out of customs. I said I couldn't do that.  Finally, Allen Foster (?) said he could reduce the amount I had to send to $650 but I would have to have it wired to New York.  Then I looked up the number and got this site.  This is obviously a scam. That's S-C-A-M.
    Don't fall for it.

    LET DOWN
my grandmother is 71 years old and recieved a phone call from a so called New York lawyer from the Mega Millions named Allen Foster while visiting me.  He called on August 8th and told her she won $650,000 from mega million jackpot last year and that they had been trying to reach her but wasnt able to. He claimed he was calling as his last resort after many attempts to contact.  The scary part was that he didn't ask her for any personal information, just wanted to know her age and whether or not she was married.  He ALREADY knew her address.  He claimed that the FedEx would drop off her check in the morning between 10-2 and she needed to be there in person to receive it.

She is very excited and believes this is legitimate.  I immediately googled his name and affiliation to find this website and many more.  The story seems to be the same for everyone.  Now my 71 year old grandmother is going to drive home and come back after "receiving" her check.  It is a four hour trip one way...I just want to thank the [***] that is giving false hope to a trusting elderly woman that is now going to drive for four hours just to be disappointed and let down.

I got the same call from a guy named Terry Jackson who said that I won 650thousand and that I can either receive the check by fedex or I can donate it. I fell for this stupid thing and got my hopes up. Then I decided to put his number into the Internet and would you know it here I am. I called him back up and brought this up to him. And I read one of the other post to him and then he hung up. Haha. Stupid people thinking that we would end up paying 3000 for it

My 85 year old mother who lives in Olympia Washington recieved a call from Terry Jackson August 30th 2012.  Not only did my mother recieved a call from Terry Jackson, but had previously been sent post cards in the mail telling her she had won.  Thinking it was a scam she would throw the post cards away until receiving the call.  She was told that she had won $650,000 from Mega Millions that the actual winner had not claimed the prize and that she was runner up.  Like everyone else she was asked if she wanted to donate the money to the Negro College Fund or keep it herself.  She told them that she would like to keep it and they asked her if she wanted publicity.  She told them no.  They told her that her check would be arriving by Fed x and it would arrive between 10 and 2.  Like the others she waited and nothing happened.  She spent from 7am until 11am speed dialing this number 888-480-5539 non stop until a female answered the phone.  She was transferred to Terry who like the others asked her for no personal information except her age but told her that she had definately won the $650,000.  While talking to him he kept putting her on hold to answer other calls.  Then he told her that the money was in a bank in Panama City to avoid taxes and had been held up in customs.  He told her that it would cost $3,200.00 to get the money freed.  When she told him that she didn't have that kind of money he told her that he would check to see if the irs could just take it off the top.  She never heard back.  The scarry part is that I would not have known anything about this if I hadn't called my mom and her line was continually busy.  I had her apartment manager check on her and have her call me.  The entire night before she had laid awake dreaming how she would give us money for down payments on houses and what all she would do with the money.  IF SHE HAD THE MONEY SHE WOULD HAVE SENT IT!!!
#1  It shouldn't cost any money upfront to win money
#2  The money would not have been held in another country
#3  Any correspondense to you would have been sent by certified mail
#4  Most likely the IRS would be involved and you would have to supply personal info along with your ssn
Like the others, they already had my Moms information.  I hope someone finds these people.  Seems like there should be a way to track the number down.  Hope no one you knows falls victims to these criminals!!!

    Disgusted
My grandmother received a call just like the ones above. But first it was from a man claiming to be a lawyer Named Lewis Block. Lewis claimed my grandmother won $550,000 from a contest by Shedds Country Crock. Told her that the money was being held by customs. and that he would have the agent call her. She then received a call from a woman claiming to be customs agent Sue Peterson badge number USG21019. This woman claimed that cutoms was holding this money because it is over half a million and would not release it til they could verify her and she has to pay the taxes. Well, I happened to be at her home and got on the phone and began questioning her. I explained that the 661-775-1545 phone number she was calling from was in california and not in new york as she had claimed. Then she told me she would not be talked to the way I was speaking to her...which is funny because I NEVER even cussed or was rude. Then I tried to Call back to the "lawyer" and he stated he did not have her file, that he would look for it and call back. I am going to the states attorney tomorrow with every bit of info i have. This needs to end

I got a call from a Jerry Hallaway saying that I won $550,000. from a contest with  Country Crock in 2011 and they haven't been able to get a hold of me.  Dumb me, I should have asked him how he finally did get ahold of me.  I knew it was a scam because he had an accent, gave me these numbers saying that my money is being held in escrow in a Bank of America bank in Panama!  It's suppose to be delivered tomorrow between 8-10 am.  Yea right!  I'm not calling but I am going to report him.

They've added a twist to the scam!
Yesterday, I received a call from someone saying his name was James Wilson - 202-595-3427
He said I'd won $650,000.00 from the Mega Millions in a Random Drawing.
The funds were deposited in a branch of Bank Of American in Panama - it's tax free - they're so helpful!
They'd send me the check and documents today... be home between 2 and 5!
This morning, Thomas Randal called from the US Customs Special Investigation Unit at Dallas/Fort Worth airport (855-653-1112) saying they'd intercepted the package, investigated to see that the check was legit, there was no apparent fraud... but the IRS and Federal Trade Commission required a 1% "registration fee". . . That's 6500.00, but the sender would escrow 1/2, so I only needed to pay $3250.00
I said I would fly into DFW Monday and would meet Thomas in person!
He said, By then the package would be returned to the sender.
I said this is a scam and you should be ashamed of yourself for committing fraud.
He said, He was a federal agent and I was wrong... I was out the winnings!
I said, You just impersonated a federal customs agent, that'll get you arrested!
    He hung up!

Folks, when you think it's a fraud, it probably is! So, play these guys along! Act as stupid as they think you are, keep them on the phone for hours if you can! Then tell them just what you think of them.
It really isn't all that satisfying, but at least you keep them from assaulting someone else!

Jerry Halliway called me with the $550k to come via FEDX b/w 10 and 2.  Knew immediately it was a scam but played along so I could verify this online.  He will probably call back and I look forward to telling him that he was reported to the authorities.  Will not do any good but he will not bother me again.

Received a call on 12/20/12 from Jerry HallIway regarding winning a $550K (second place) prize; same as PVR.  Another person called on 12/21/12 saying he was a federal agent, that the package was being held at the Ft.Worth airport, the check was valid, and would be released upon payment of a $2750 fee;"Jerry" would pay the other half.  I told him to return everything to the sender.

5 Feb 2013This morning, 2/5/13 I received a call from 888 215 0632 at 10:58 AM.  The caller told me he was calling from an airport in Texas because a package being sent to me was confiscated by border security. I told him " I know you are a scammer and quit calling me!!!"  He tried to reason with me telling me it was legitimate. I told him I was going to report this number to the FBI and he told me he was working with the FBI. After going back and forth he told me he was going to forget about my package.  I didn't give him the chance to ask me for money to have my package delivered.  It's hard to believe that since Friday, 2/2/13 to today 2/5/13 I have received 3 scammer phone calls.  I hope these people get caught!Caller: unknown

2 Feb 2013I rec'd a phone call this morning around 10 AM (2/2/13) tell me that in Nov. 2012 I donated $1 to the Wounded Warrier Project at the super market when I purchased Country Club Butter. The caller's name was Nick McKenzie. I asked if he was from Puerto Rico because he had an accent and he said "NO! I'm from N.Y." He said I was the 2nd place winner in this drawing and I could take the money or give it to charity.  I told him to give it because I was concerned he was a scammer.  But he said if I took the money I could give it to any charity I want.  He said something about the Negro College Fund but I didn't understand that. He asked when I'd like this certified check to be delivered on Monday...between 10 am and 2 pm? or later. He said Fed X would bring it...there would be cashier's checks and 1099 forms and something from a lawyer. He asked if I had credit, debit cards or a saving account.  I said NO! I said I was very low income and had none of those accounts. He gave me a serial number for the check and a confirmation # for when it's delivered. I would also have to provide identification.  And did I want it to be private or public with photos?  I said public. He told me to be it confidential for my own protection.  Someone could steal the check but then he claimed they had the serial number.  This is the number he called from: 718-395-3159

Well, Monday came and went....no check between 10 am and 2 pm. Of course I didn't call Nick McKenzie at the above phone number to inquire where it was.  Thankfully I saw other entries on this site with a similar mode of operation but with different names, etc. Nick kept telling me to call him with any questions.  I hope he can be stopped before he scams any other senior citizens.  Then tonight I got a call from some woman telling me I entered a survey about WalMart and they wanted to send me a gift card for $100 and other money.  Told me to go to the computer and type on "Waka something.com...can't remember the entire site..After asking me to fill out my name, etc...she wanted me to enter my credit card or checking account so she could charge me a one time fee of $2.99.  She was very rude to me when I refused. That's two scammers in 2 days.  What the H-ll is going on?  The number she called from is: 757 913 1061

I received a call from Ashley Vincent saying they have received important documents concerning me. I called and a voice recording requested me to leave a message and I did. I decided to Google the number only to find out that others have similarly received calls from the same number. I have a suspicion that the caller must be calling from Florida, the US center for scams

My Mom called me to ask that I drive to DFW Airport, US Border Patrol, to see if Officer Thomas Randall is real. He called from 855-653-1112. I contact the Border Patrol office, and confirmed that they don't have a Thomas Randall, and none of their phone numbers use 855. Then, I found this page in a Google search.
