I am an investigator for Portland General Electric in Portland, Oregon. The above number has called our customers over 20 times today (01-18-17), pretending to PGE, and advising customers they are behind on their power bills, demanding an immediate payment with a pre-paid credit card. The group has "spoofed" in our customer service line number to show on caller ID, then recorded our customer service message. This may well be the same group that has been calling our utility and other utilities throughout the U.S. for the last 3 1/2 years.  We have confirmed they are calling from overseas and they use a variety of pre-purchased toll free numbers. The group all have strong Hispanic accents.  If your law enforcement agency has any questions about this group, please have them call me at 503-464-8602.

Just got a call from above listed number - Telling me electricity will be terminated in 45 minutes  If I don't call 888-480-7566 and arrange immediate payment! HOAX!!! Guy I spoke with did NOT speak English well at all

1-800-714-7777 was the number that showed up on our caller ID. Claimed to be WE Energies and demanded payment for a late bill. Gave me a call back number of 888-480-7566 for payment, otherwise our power would be shut off in 45 minutes. Scam

Someone purporting to be from WE Energies called and said that we had failed to pay a deposit on a smart meter. They threatened disconnect if we did not pay immediately. When we called back, they made up a story about how we had called a technician out and he had installed a smart meter and that we owed a deposit of $900 payable in cash only in Appleton (so called corporate headquarters). When asked to speak to a supervisor, a man got on the line and said the only way to avoid disconnect was to pay cash at CVS or Walmart. When I asked to speak to legal department, disconnected. Second phone call to different extension, asked to speak to legal, then disconnection. When I called back a third time, I was automatically disconnected. Called WE Energies, we are third business targeted today.

Scam number from WE energies in Wisconsin, saying our power would be disconnected. Contacted WE to report them.

A black male with a Carribbean / South African accent said he was with Entergy and my electricity would be cut off if I did not call this number and make a payment.  He said a cutoff notice was mailed out weeks ago in a red envelope.  I asked him is he has ever been in prison and he hung up.

Rude Asian accent man "Louis" saying our business account would be shut off in 45 minutes if I didn't buy prepaid MoneyPak cards for $800.  My $388 isn't due for 3 weeks.  Called me back from 800-368-3749.

Called and said they were with Entergy about utility bill. Gave this call back number and it even had the Entergy customer service recording!  Entergy corp office confirmed it was a fake number.

Hispanic accented male stated he was from Entergy, our bill was past due and had to be paid cash ($899.98) at a third-party location (CVS in McComb, MS) with a Bill Pay Card in the next 45 minutes to prevent shut-off. CallerID #800-368-3749 call back #888-480-7566. After calling the real Entergy customer service number, we have a zero balance.

Called stating that my business power would be shut off in 45 min unless we paid.

Caller pretended to be from Westar, the Kansas power company, and that our power would be shut off in 30 minutes.
When I returned the call, the recording said it was the Westar Billing Department.  That recording was well done, very believable.  I pushed "1" for billing questions, and it went to on-hold.  I hung up immediately, thinking that this might be a toll call.

this number called me today (1-28-17) demanding 600 in past due electrical.
i've called the number numerous time to shame "cindy" "christopher" "carlos" "john" "nathan" "sam" over being scammers. call and ask for cindy. remind her that she is being illegal.

Got a call at our business today in Cleveland, Texas to call number 888 480 7566, Energy Electric.  A guy Sam said that business was 2 months behind and that we had 45 minutes to pay or we would be turned off. We were not behind and number is a scam.  Called Energy Electric for our area.  It is documented.  Also found this web already on going about this group of scammers.

SCAM SCAM SCAM  Pretended to be Consumers Energy threatening to shut off power within 45 minutes for past due bills from December 2016 and January 2017.  Could provide address but could not provide any account numbers.  Said to call 888-480-7566 ...when the number was called the phone was answered saying Consumers Energy etc...but this is a SCAM SCAM SCAM per Consumers Energy.  We are current on all bills and they directed us to call police immediately.

My business got a call today from someone alleging to be Nevada Power who said they've urgently been trying to get in touch with me for the past 10 days. I was told to call this number, 1-888-480-7566, to deal with my bill or the electricity would be turned off in 45 minutes. Obviously scam.

I called the number back and they've lifted all the Nevada energy voicemail prompts. I followed the one for service and when the guy answered I told him I was moving and needed to change my service address. He hung up on me.

This number was used as the call-back number for a fraudulent impersonator of an Xcel Energy representative threatening to cut-off service in 45 minutes if we didn't pay him immediately.  The caller ID on the phone call spoofed a listed Xcel Energy phone number and just had the name "toll free."  Beware!

Caller claimed to be from Xcel Energy, and the caller ID did have the Xcel customer service phone number, ID read 24-HOUR CUSTOMER.. Caller said our bank account numbers had been changed, our checks had not been cashed, and we have been sent a letter two weeks ago about this. None of that is true, he could not name the correct person at my business who is the account holder. Also gave the same number as everyone else: 888-480-7566. I didn't call. When I pressed him to check records or direct transfer me, he hung up.

Same as all of the above. Presented us with a story of being two months behind on energy payments and they would cut off electricity for our company. Instead of answering any questions (because of the new scam of trying to get you to say the word "yes" and using that to put you on the line for money) I kept responding with "what is your message" until she hung up.

Very heavily accented person called.  Wanted to speak with the owner of our business.  I told him the owner was not available, can I take a message.  He told me that our electric bill is over two months late, we have 45 min to pay before disconnect, then gave me a phone number to call back. 1-888-480-7566  Funny thing, our electric is included with our rent. Be careful !
