This is a bill collector - he called me looking for my girlfriend, thought I was her husband. I told her no, that we are NOT married and no plans to be. Once I told him I was not related, he continued to ask me to get involved. I confirmed the phone # and mailing address were right, and suggested he text or e-mail her as that's the best way to get her during the day. He said no, he couldn't do that - wanted to get his number to her even though he wouldn't tell me the name of the company or his name. He finally hung up, and then called MY family members!!!!  That's extremely shady and unethical, and wouldn't that be illegal to harass people who are not relatives?

Your girlfriend has been targeted by crooks trying to scar her into paying extortion money.  This person who called you is as far from a debt collector as an amoeba is from Einstein.  Everything he did was illegal.

They call family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.

Someone called my phone asking for a friend.  This person's name was Barbara and she asked me if she can call me again and I told her no.  Seems sort of illegal and I refuse for this company to keep calling my number to reach someone else.

Very rude company. Incorrectly called me about someone I did not, know definitely a debt collector. Did not thank you me for my time when I returned their call. Just hung up on me.

Keeps calling about an acquaintance of mine, both on home and my cell phone! When I answered the cell phone, said I had been given as a reference. I asked if it was for a job, then they changed tack and asked if something was a correct phone number. It didn't sound right, so got the phone # from my husband. They said I needed to have them call. Huh? We only talk maybe every 6 months. Very fishy. Now they keeping calling on the land line. Tried to call and tell them to stop calling, as I can't do more than I did, but just got a recording to stay on the line on hold and they would answer in the order received. Like that's going to happen! Jerks.
