Received a call with the Direct TV phone number on my caller ID 800-531-5000.  This is a SCAM. They are spoofing/putting up a fake phone number to show on your caller ID.  IF you have Direct TV, they will offer you the full package with the sports package for 2 years at $59.99 a month, no contract, can cancel anytime, and you get a $100 Amazon Gift Card.  You are told you have to pay 6 mo in advance now for this offer.  I put the agent on hold, called Direct TV, Spoke with a Supervisor who guaranteed Direct TV will NEVER ask you to pay money in advance for any promotions.  They verified that this is a Scam.  The scam agent was foolish enough to give me a call back number in case we got disconnected - 888-488-7706 x1029 gave the name Daniel (He is from the Philippians), This is not Direct TV. This same number has been looped in with many other scams.

SCAM!!!

My wife received a phone call from this number. Said agent had a "great offer" from DIRECTV, which we currently have, so I called them back to inquire about it. Got "Chris" on the phone and asked him about the offer. He asked me to verify our address then went into his pitch about 2 years of DIRECTV Premium package for $59.99, all we had to do was pay $300 upfront. -at this point I realized it was BS, because DIRECTV doesn't ask you to pay anything upfront, how would they make money off of pay-per-view, on demand and upgrades if they did that?- I asked him if that $300 could be applied to my bill. Of course it couldn't. He instructed me to buy a $300 Amazon gift card and call them back with the number. Really? Really. I asked him his name again, asked him if people actually fell for this obvious scam, and told him that I'd be reporting him and this number. He responded with a very animated "F--- You" and hung up. I'd say avoid this number and their scam, but really, if enough people talk to them and let them know what obvious [***] they are, they might stop their scheme altogether.

They got me as I just made changes to my account

same thing happened to me with the call from the direct TV number I've used for years. what a line of bs, pay with an amazon card. I could hardly understand these foreigners.

I kept getting a call from, who my caller id said to be direct tv trying to sell me the same deall .Pay 4 months in advance to lower my bill for 2 years, Told me to go buy a $400 Amazon gift card  and call a different number back to pay for it. Did not sound like something directtv would do.I don't think so....I been with direct tv for  20 years, they never called me to lower my bill.

Receiived a call from direct tv's number telling me that my bill will be lowered, and I would receive all of the premium channels if I purchase an Amazon gift card and call back with the assigned confirmation and gift card number. My wife was suspicious,  and sure enough....it  was a scam. I had just purchased direct tv, so I was baffled with how soon they got my information.

Same happened to me. It is a scam.
