Been calling my phone for over 2 years trying to get my husband.  I refuse to let them talk to him. One time I was able to get them to reveal that it was for a “breached contact”... but as I talked to them more the caller told me it was for unpaid debt for a company my husband had never heard of, and never done business with.  The address they tried to give me was not our address, but I did not let them know it was wrong.

Caller ID shows NC, TN, SC, FL, CA, and OH as the states the calls are coming from.

Do NOT pay these people any money.  They are scammers!!!  For the last two years they have been threatening that it is going to court... and make it sound urgent, but nothing ever becomes of it.

They say that “Mr Bartly”. Who the callers also claim is an attorney needs to ask some questions.

Tabitha is a liar.  That person is one of the crooks and wants you to think this outfit is legitimate.  They are anything but.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

They left me a message saying "Hi Gram, this is Alexis, its urgent you call (they name was mumbled so I did not get it) and then they leave this phone number 888-502-7330. I'm not going to call it. I am not their "Gram" and I don't know any Alexis or the mumbled name they said. Can't be urgent. Has to be a scam!

DON'T FALL FOR THE TRICKERY & LIES OF THESE SCAM.SCUM!  FYI-We record ALL phone conversations from unknown and/or "private" numbers and we pay our legitimate debts!  However, my husband received a call from 888.502.7330 demanding to talk to me about a "matter with their company". (No company name given). smh..She told him  I had to sign for some documents and need to call (a different number) 844.785.0204 and use REFERENCE NUMBER blah blah blah.  If I don't call TODAY they will be at my house tomorrow.  Well...I DIDN'T CALL THEM BACK AND they didn't CALL or COME TO MY HOUSE.  JUST SO ANNOYING GIVING UNNECESSARY ATTENTION TO THIS FAKE DEBT WHILE GRIEVING THE 'REAL' DEATH OF MY HEALTHY DAD FROM CORONAVIRUS 19!

Just received a call at work from this person, "Cat." When my assistant answered, she asked for me by name. He told her I was unavailable and could he as what she needed. She stated, the call was a private matter and she could only discuss it with me. Being concerned, I quickly called her back at (888)502-7330. Immediately, she answered by just asking if I was So and So. I said who is this? She followed by asking if I was "my name" and quickly rattled off some name and that some preceding was being filed against me. I asked again, who are you and what is this about. She asked me to confirm my identity again and then asked, is the last 4 digits of your social ____ WHICH WAS MY LAST 4 DIGITS!!!! I said, no way I will verify my SS # to you. I said, I will report you to FTC. She said go ahead and hung up on me!! I'm beyond stressed now! They called my job, have my personal information! I will now have to let all my coworkers know about these [***]! I do not owe anyone anything! So upset! Whatever you do, don't fall for this! It is a scam!

They cannot simply "garnish wages" with the wave of a magic wand.  They would have to sue you first.  That would be legally impossible since the Statute of Limitations in every state has run out.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
