Got scammed by these low lifes! Had my guard down. Working with Microsoft for help to scrub my computer. 1800 -642 7676 complaints and assistance

Had a problem installing Microsoft office - went to their website was told my key was not active and to call 888/254-4408. This number was answered by a recording that my call would be recorded for quality assurance and then I was disconnected. Immediately my phone rang and 888/518-5098 showed up. The person on the other end who did not speak very good English identified himself as technical support and when I pushed for technical support with who - he said Microsoft. Then he proceeded to 'help' me by showing me all the things wrong with my brand new laptop and how I needed all kinds of software. As soon as he said 'antivirus' I knew he was a scam because I pay monthly for an up to date antivirus program and support.  Seems like the Microsoft office website was hi-jacked.

No, it seems that you did not actually call Microsoft but instead of going to Microsoft's actual website you Googled it and ended up on the first number that came up which was an ad by a scammer.
