A recorded message left on my work number from Johnson York. Stated if I didn't ppay $1,500 they were sending officers over with a summons. Told me it was a felony offense and I could do time in jail behind it. I called back and they lady tried to work out a "payment arrangement" with me. She said if I don't pay then to expect someone at my job or residence between 3-5 today or 9-11 tomorrow morning. I believe this is a scam.

Call every week or so saying I have a bad check (no amount), which I don't and they will serve me. Have no idea who they and I don't have any outstanding or bad checks. His name is Jeff Easley, but no company was named. Who are these people?

This is a total scam. This is the 3rd call i have received from them. I saved all three messages on my phone and played them back to back. It is the same excact recording but with a different name of the person who is going to serve the papers. The 1st time is was a Glenn Shelton, the 2nd was Alex Swift, and the 3rd is this Jeff Easley (spelling). All three had different numbers to call back to. One is 888-288-0910 and the other is 888-519-1377. I cannot remember what the very 1st number was. I called them back the 1st time, and this lady who answered the phone new it was me right away which is freaky. She was rude and really exploided when i told her that i did not take out any loans. If you notice, the loan dates that they give you are back in 2010. I told her that i have my 2010 bank statements and there is nowhere on my statement that shows that i received a deposit. She blew up at me again and said get a lawyer and see you in court. She said that i will be served papers that next morning at work and that was a month ago. These people will not go away.

I don't know how to get this to stop. I saved the last one. I will keep saving as well.
I just don't understand why someone is not able to shut these things down.

These people are a scam! I've gotten calls from them claiming to be Jeff Easley, Alex Swift. Each time I've been given a different phone number to call with the same account #.  When I do, a lady will answer the phone and get really rude with you. She claims all this is for a returned check on a payday loan. Well, I've never had a payday loan or a check returned from the bank, so how can I owe them money? There are 2 actual phone numbers I've been given, one account number, and 2 separate amounts to pay back. They can't serve me papers, they don't have the correct address. They can't serve me at work either because I'm retired and don't work!  I've filed a police report, filed a complaint with the AZ Attorney General office and turned this over to our attorney's office. Apparently these people aren't too smart because they would know that payday loans are not allowed in the state of Arizona. They are nothing more than really dumb scam artists that like to scare/harrass people. Their day will come!

Wow, what is a "debt beat"? Two things are quite obvious in reading your post here:

    1. English is your second language.
    2. You are an obvious SHILL.

This is obviously a new phone number for an old scam attempt since these posts start in May 2012. The message I've been getting is not even for me but listening to it; the whole message contradicts itself. For starters, if you have written a "bad check", you have committed a CRIMINAL act; therefore, you would not have a summons coming to you; you'd have a warrant for your arrest delivered. Anytime a "debt collector" is desparate enough to threaten you in any way similar to this one; it's not a real debt collector. And if by some slim chance it is a real debt collector and they're using these kinds of threats, they're violating the FDCPA so call a lawyer!
For the record, any time someone has to come on this site and say "THIS IS NOT A SCAM"; odds are REALLY GOOD that this IS a scam. Real companies don't have to validate themselves by sending shills in to tell you you're fooling yourself; they have the law behind them in case you don't believe them! HARDY HAR HAR!!! Try again, "pay your bills"; FRIGGING SHILL!

Just got a call on my home phone with that Jeff Easley message  on there. I am 31 years old and I have NEVER had a bank account so if its a hot check with MY name on it, go get that [***] because it isnt me!!! If you want me to think it legit, send some mail, certified, with a legit address, company name and the who what when where and how. Who is foolish enough to just call a number back and hand over banking info? Call me form a legit num not a series of 000000000. If its a legit process serving, theyre not going to warn you by phone, they just show up.

The person who had my cell number before me has outstanding debts, I've recieved many collections calls.  Thanks to all those who posted on here to warn me about calling back.  I'm sure if I did they'd just start trying to scam me, claiming they were going to hunt me down, burn down my house, and kill my whole family.  I feel sort of bad for anyone desperate enough, like the lady who answers the phone when you call, who has to take this kind of sorry-assed job.  Tempting though to call from some untraceable number just to f_ck with her.

And a side note to pay your bills: Dude, I've been in debt.  I remember the debts I've accumulated and I've paid them back.  You are obviously some pathetic loser in some sh#thole office, in some third world country trying to scam the good people of the United States of America.  We will find you.

Jeff Easley just called me at my work number!  The caller ID was all zeros... 0000000000000000...  So, I answered "hello" rather than with my company and name...  Funny how the recording says since he couldn't reach me by phone...  REALLY?  You weren't on the phone when you called me!!!  At the end, says I have been served!  REALLY again?  You have no clue who received your pre-recorded scam message!  Absolutely no legal entity would do business this way - whether you owe them money or not!  All a scam!  Do NOT fall for it!  If I had written a bad check, I would know it beyond any doubt!  Legal documentation would be handled securely through traceable, certified mail!!!

What a bunch of dumb s**ts!  I am so sick and tired of these damn calls!  Unfortunately, I did borrow from a payday loan place once and I will bet you money that they DO give away or sell information that they obtain from customers, especially those who refuse to borrow repeatedly.  They were mad at me when I would not take out another loan.  Be very careful if you do have business with those loan places - most of them are scammers of one sort or another as well.

All calls should be blocked if they do not show up with a legitimate number to begin with.  I mean seriously, we all know that 00000000000 is a fake number!

The person who had your number previously may not have had outstanding debts, however, these people are just scammers who call anyone and everyone they can...  It doesn't verify anyone has debt or bad checks being owed to them or anyone else.  I get lots of these calls at my work number!!!

I don't understand either - if someone calls from a number so fake as 0000000000 - the call shouldn't even go through!  So sick of these scammers!!  There should be some technology that can counter this bullsh*t.  Calls that are placed from a phony number, or from one phone but made to appear to come from another number, another country...

Obviously another scammer trying to get people to believe this baloney!   Don't fall for it!  No legal debt collector, bank, creditor or so on will contact you in this manner.  A summons must be served in person or by certified mail - NEVER over the phone or internet!

I just received this call on my work number, house number and cell phone. It was from a Jeff Easley, it was a recording. He gave me a the same message as many of you have reported, that he could't reach me by phone but I was officially served by the message. I called the number back and asked the people for information. I asked for written verification. The lady was rude and said it had been in collections since Jan 2011. I told her I hadn't received anything. She was rude and kept telling me they were coming to my work and were going to tell my job I used my email to get a pay day loan and refused to pay it. I didn't take out the loan. If I had, I would have paid it. She also kept saying stuff that this was a form of a bad check. I talked to the Arkansas Attorney Generals office earlier this week about a call I received previously, probably from the same people. They stated that you cannot go to jail for a payday loan and they cannot arrest you for it. He said it was completely different than hot checks. He also said that if they refuse to give you written verification, that it was a scam. The lady kept telling me that I would receive a summons. They would serve me but kept saying that I'd recieved letters, which I haven't. I feel like this is a scam and have called the AR AGs office again and left them this new information that I feel certain they are going to come back and tell me it is a scam.
