The least they could do is ID themselves other than "Toll Free Call"

It is AARP's (United Health Care) supplemental medicare plan telling you about their Nurse Health line, which is free with your membership.  Since it ID'd as "Toll Free Caller", I didn't pick it up.  But at least they left a recorded message.  The number they called from, is the number you would call if you wanted to speak to a nurse.

Well, I did send my premium in late.  If it really is the nurse health line - is it legal to ask HIPPA type questions without identifying yourself.  Besides, I am on a crusade to help the US Postal service.  Send me something in the mail or properly ID yourself.  Just knowing my first is not good enough.

According to a news article from www.cbsnews.com dated Nov 3, 2009 (copied and pasted below):

Customer service: AARP operates a 24-hour toll-free line (888-543-5630) staffed with reps who can tell you about hospitals and caregivers in your area, and advise you on what to ask your doctor about potential procedures. AARP/UnitedHealthcare also says it pays 98 percent of claims in 10 days.

But, why would a customer service line be calling me.  Are they doing Nurse Line calls when they are idle?
I will not answer unless they give a proper ID (period).

888-543-5630 called me and was listed as "Toll Free Number" on my caller ID. It appears to have been computer dialed (can't stand organizations that do this).  No number message was left.  If, as other readers have suggested, it was AARP (or United Healthcare), why don't these organizations identify themselves?  I will NEVER pick up a call simply identified as "Toll Free".  Never! Never!

Received from United Healthcare Supplement insurance. Caller Id: Unknown.
Automated call. Left message in voicemail identifying who they were calling.
Call doesn't fit into listed categories. VM was basically an advertisement for nurse hotline service offered to their clients.

It is in fact the "AARP Nurse Health Line". Called back with Skype (cloaking) and the nurse announced the organization. Thank you and goodbye. Apparently too ashamed to display on caller ID. Liberal POS outfit.

I don't trust these insurance carriers.  They like to ask a lot of questions, regardless of the HIPPA rules, and I suspect they are looking for any pre-existing conditions that may limit their future reimbursement!

got this call and called it back. It is a nurse health line.  Robot said she is transferring me to nurse and I am currently on hold waiting for a "nurse" to get on line.  After five minutes ANN came on phone. She explained that AARP Healthcare Nurseline calls to explain their services to Medicare enrollees.   I am on Medicare but have no need for a nurse. I told her to tell their administrator to add their phone ID when calling people in the future.  Or NO ONE WILL ANSWER THEIR CALLS!

Good job for reporting this number. I was at our local ER yesterday which was advice from a registered nurse on this help line. I let the call go to VM as they said they would call back in a day or two to check on me. Wish I had known or had better info on this phone number!!!

Based on posting for the last 4 years, I will assume this is AARP Healthcare Nurseline. While I do have AARP/UnitedHealthCare as my supplemental insurance, I have not contacted them in quite a while. As some postings say, they are probably calling to explain their services. Too bad they didn't leave a message, they wouldn't have left me with a bad taste about wasting my time. On the other hand, if it is about selling their products, they deserve to be blocked.

I can't stand these robot calls, AARP needs to suspend this program. It is irritating and an annoyance. If I need a Nurse or a Doctor I call my Doctor. STOP, STOP, STOP!
