It's either a scam or a collection agency can't tell which. Received a call on Friday from a restricted number, the person left a message indicating they are from Quest Delivery Service, and want to deliver some documents on behalf of their client. Received another call this morning and said it was Joel from NWL and they needed to verify the address to deliver the documents. When I called the number back they answer as Executive Offices. Becareful.

    Be Aware
The caller ID gave an incoming call number of 417-200-2110, a voicemail was left is as basically follows: "This is Nathan from NWL, we are calling because a clerk in our office has some forms that need to be issued regarding file number XXXXXX - If we do not get a call back by end of business day, we will consider the address and place of employment as verified. Please call 1-888-551-1793 for property regarding (my address)" - I called the number back on the caller ID and a guy answered as Ian and Cohen -  ask who they were he repeated the name, I asked what they do, he then countered asking my if I got a call, I said I did, he asked for the file number and I said, I don't even know who you are...and he hung up the phone.  If a legitimate business - they would not hang up when asked what their business is.  Plus the name changed of the company - pretty sure this is a scam.

    Idk either
Called yesterday stating that I'm involved in a civil lawsuit about some unpaid debt and that I needed to pay them to prevent it from going any further. The name they gave me was Levy and Cohen and they're supposedly based out of California. They have all of my info, name, address, and last four of my social, so they sounded pretty legit. And apparently the past due collection debt is legitimate from something during my previous marriage. But I didn't trust it so I called the original lender to pay and they informed me that they had no idea who this is and that i should not pay them.

    Beware: Scammers
Same message as everyone else, when you call them back they claim to be Levy Cohen in California, but the caller ID number came in as a Missouri number, called the 888 number left in the voicemail and the local number and the same guy answered the phone.  He said that we owed a bank for overdraft fees and bad checks....but when questioned, he gets angry and hangs up on you. We called the bank in question and they said that they have no record of us ever doing business with them and to not pay these people.  We have also reported this to the local sheriff and our state's attorney general's office.

I believe they bought a list of contact and billing info or they are a scam collection agency, collecting money but not for true client businesses because the same thing happened to me and j seriously doubt places are going this hard during Covid 19 when so many people are out of work! FYI there was once a case named levy vs Cohen and these people say they are levy and Cohen but the Joel called and said he was calling on behalf of Levy and Cohen out of California but that his office was in the city of an old address we had and he couldn’t even pronounce the name of the city correctly; do I definitely believe they are scammers!

Definitely a scam. Got me for $1000. I found out it was a scam from constantly disputing the debt as incorrect and everything kept checking out as correct on the creditors end.

You post is confusing.  If you disputed the debt by law all collection activity must cease and the debt collector must go back to the original creditor to prove that you owe the debt and that they have the legal right to collect it.  That has to be provided to you in writing.  It certainly would not happen in minutes or hours.  If you paid by debit/credit card you should dispute the amount with your bank.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

    Misunderstood replies to BigA
That is how I became aware, after disputing the debt for months as inaccurate because it still stated unpaid and the results came back as accurate I then reached out to the original creditor for the chain of title and that’s how I came to find out these people are frauds and scammed me. I have disputed with my bank but I doubt it’ll turn any good results.
