- Mike replies to MikeHuntleton| 5 repliesThey told me block is now removed. But I never experienced any block. So it made me suspicious. I hate giving out my credit card number and not sure why when you have been verified by automated system, you are giving it to a live person.

So what did they say when you asked them why it worked if it was blocked? Why would you come here to find out if it was normal, instead of asking a lot of questions to the person on the phone? See, you might have dialed the wrong number and called a scammer's number by mistake, since scammers buy numbers one digit off from banks and hope to catch people who misdial.Quote:But I never experienced any block. Now if you could provide more details about the whole interactions with the person who helped you, I might help you figure out if you got scammed or not.

It is not normal for them to text you a verification code, since you were already on the phone with them. What possible reason would they need to give you a verification code?Quote:asked for the 16-digit number and 3 digit code and texted me a code for verification - Mike replies to MikeHuntleton| 3 replies- I got a letter from TD Bank saying as a precaution my account has been placed in a referred status until they can speak with me.
- I called the number on the letter, and the agent also asked for my 16 digit number (which I gave them), and the CCV (which I gave them) and then texted me and asked for code (that is where I hung up)
- I then called TD Bank using the number on the back of the card.
- I entered the 16-digit card using automated system
- Agent asked me for the 16-digit card, CCV, and the text code
- I gave them all them, and she said the block is now removed.
In all this, I feel like I have done something wrong. I gave too much information. Has anyone that called TD Bank Credit Services before been asked to provide code via Text. - MikeHuntleton replies to Mike| 2 replies
What was that number?Quote:I called the number on the letter
I already answered that, as they real TD wouldn't have any need for a verification code for someone who is on the phone with them. Only scammers do that to try getting into your account.Quote:TD Bank Credit Services before been asked to provide code via Text. - Mike replies to MikeHuntleton| 1 replyNumber on letter - 855-395-4109
Number on card - 888-561-8861 - MikeHuntleton replies to MikeHere, this is direct from TD:Quote:We will send these text messages whether or not you are enrolled in TD Alerts. They will come from the short code 86975. If we are unable to reach you via text, we will attempt to call you.
So which number did you call, both? I am more confused now than before. Can you post what the letter said exactly, keeping out the personal info parts? I could not find any verification the number of 855-395-4109 is a legitimate TD number.
The lack of details on why you didn't get satisfaction while on the phone with what you believe was TD only shows you might not have called the real number to TD.
I think you need to go to the TD Bank and take that letter with you, get a new card. ONLY a real TD Bank will be able to help you with this, not someone from the internet, especially not from a phone number look up site. - post pending moderator approval
