This number is a txt scam to get people to agree to an in-home appt for "ADT" system update to 5g. It is a txt msg where you choose your appt time. It indicated it came from ADT. SO, I did agree to an appt time. (should have researched the text number 1st!!!) The man, John Kincaid, came stating he was the area manager for ADT. I asked to see his badge. He showed me, it seemed correct. After the appt which included his going over my "outdated " panel with me & talk about the update, he stated that someone should be contacting me in the next couple of days to set an appt.  10 days passed & no call, so I called him. he then gave me the customer support # for "ADT". I looked it up as it was NOT ADT but was another 3rd party company, Safe Home Security in Utah! I then realized he misrepresented himself as an ADT area mgr. I will be reporting him elsewhere as I saw there are lawsuits against this company in Utah and across the nation.

Received a text claiming to be ADT home security. Said I need to upgrade and receive new system. They set appointment. I then decided to call ADT and confirm. ADT said it wasn’t them and I should report it.

Received a text message from this number stating when I got my alarm system with ADT and it is in need of an upgrade from 2G/3G to 5G at NO ADDITIONAL COST  to ensure my alarm system will continue to communicate effectively. If I upgraded that day, I would get a free doorbell or outdoor camera of my choice. I just needed to reply back "upgrade."  They never said what company they were and I know ADT mentioned they will always announce if it was them sending a message so I did not respond.

ADT upgraded everything several years ago to 5G. You shouldn't be getting any texts or emails now. I'm sure they also won't be giving away free cameras.

I got the same text and since there was no company name shown, I contacted ADT since we used to have it in our old house, and they said they hadn't sent it.  Scam.

I got the same message about upgrading my ADT today. I do not like that the text included my first name and the year we had the ADT alarm installed. I did not respond and will report the text. The name of the company offering a free camera was not included in the text.

Got a text msg from this number today, saying the year I had my system installed and offering a free upgrade to 5g and a free doorbell or camera.   Since they did not say they were from ADT, I immediately googled the phone number and found this page.

I’ve the same experience as many of those on this site. Initially I assumed that it was from ADT and replied for more info. I became skeptical when I couldn’t find ADT or any other company mentioned in the two emails. I did a google search on key phrases from the emails hoping to find a valid security company. No such luck. Finally googled the number and landed at this site. I knew the offer was too good to be true because who gives away free upgrades. This site saved me from trouble. Thank you!!

I got the same text today.  I would encourage anyone that receives a similar message from a company to phone the company directly rather than answering the text or clicking a link.

Got the exact same text as Ann yesterday. I remembered ADT upgraded my system to 5G many years ago. So I googled the number and ended up on this site. The texter never identified the company as being ADT but knew my name and the year ADT installed my system. I wonder where they got their information if not from ADT data base?

You are right, John Kincaid could work for a separate company than ADT. ADT probably know, because they do not want get sued and rather use a 3rd party. I signed up but in order to monitor real time, they charge more monthly fee. I paid 3 years but did not use it just to get the contract finished. Then cancel the service. He was going to sell me $20k equipment. With that much money. I could hire a body guard.
