Rcvd call from this number but they didn't leave msg or voicemail.  My caller ID provided the number but no name...to bad for them I guess!  You'd think people would eventually realize that anonymous callers will never get answered.

Are you a PhonePower customer? That's their number. I just noticed that in my call logs too. I think they tried to call while trouble shooting the new connection. Mine came up with a name and number on CID.

It is from Phone Power, but it is a call fishing for business.  They called to tell me that I had ordered service 10 minutes ago and wanted to verigy my information to schedule the install.  They wouldn't give any details for "security" reasons.  They were vague and tried to get me to give them my home address.  He couldn't tell me who gave them my number, or whether it was for residential or a business.

I'm still tyring to figure out how I signed up for a service while out to dinner on a Friday night.

Me thinks one doth protest too much...  them folks are way too busy setting up new customers to be fooling around with trying to drum up yet more business...  Since Google Voice ditched the system that allowed us to use our OBi VoIP boxes, a LOT of us had to find a service that it worked with.

OBi has teamed up with two VoIP providers, Phone Power being one of them, to take up the slack and at $35 PER YEAR for pretty much ALL the phone service one could ask for is a deal for real.  Beats the $45 PER MONTH we were paying AT&T U-verse for a lot less functionality.

FWIW U-verse only allowed us to block 20 numbers and selective forward 20 numbers.  PP allows 50 of each so a lot more nuisance callers are being fwd'd to our State AG's office...  ';)

Obviously someone else 'signed you up', probably by mistake, or as a prank.  You know, like the constant 'eBay Reset Your Password', 'Forgotten Password' from eBay, etc. that keeps getting posted to your InBox that YOU or I didn't ask for...

Hooray, Phonepower. I just signed. Cancelled my landline because I was getting dozens of spam calls every day and AT&T only allows blocking 6 numbers here. And I'm sick of AT&T's games with excess charges. They offered a home phone using their cellular network for $20/month, get the gadget free with a 24 month contract. I almost fell for it until I noticed the "unlimited calls" was actually "unlimited LOCAL calls." I paid $60 year to Phonepower including 911 service. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I called customer support and got a live human being who spoke with an American accent!

Keep on answering and they'll keep on calling. Give no answer in any way and let the phone ring. Eventually, they'll get tired of dialing numbers that have no answer. Patience and time is the key.

It *might* be PhonePower... I just cancelled service with them. Really bad billing and support. They could be calling to complain that I filed a dispute with my credit card company about their charges.  There was no caller ID information.

Last time they called (from a different number) they left a "please contact us about your service" - clearly after receiving my cancellation letter and returned equipment. But they placed that call 20 minutes before the close of their business for the weekend. This call was also 20 minutes before their close of business.  And hah, they left a voice mail.

    Quote:
hello this message is for (my name) my name is jessica and i'm calling from phone power i'm calling you in regards to the return of the equipment that we've received we just wanted to confirm that you do in fact wish to proceed with the termination so we can close out your account our number here to call us back at is 888-607-6937 option 2 for the billing department thank you and have a nice day

The letter was addressed to "Cancellations Department" and the first line read "Please find enclosed two obihai devices that I am returning as I no longer wish to have service with Phone Power (previously Broadvoice). " and the final line: "Dissatisfied, Ex Customer".  Apparently they have problems with reading comprehension, too.  I think it's really a ploy to continue attempting to bill me (see the Yelp reviews - that seems to be their modus operandi)

PhonePower may be cheaper, but that's because they are not so great. Don't take my word for it. Take a look at the Yelp reviews:

It seems a "Phone Company" could manage to provide useful Caller ID info, yes?  Apparently they don't know how to do that.
