I just received a call from this number (888)617-4378. They left a message saying they are trying to collect on a debt. I blocked there number. It also was a recording. They need to get a real job. I guess they have nothing better to do. I'm not falling for this scam. I also do not owe a debt. Good luck scammers. Thank you all for the heads up. I very much appreciate all the comments.

Debt collector they left me a msg without my phone ringing!!!

This is how they are leaving a msg on your vml while the phone doesn't ring

Dial 267-SLYDIAL (267-759-3425) from any landline or mobile phone. At the voice prompt, enter the U.S. mobile phone number of the person you want to slydial. You will be directly connected to their voicemail. Leave them a voicemail, sit back and relax.

The number 888-617-4378 called me twice and left and v/m but the voicemail number is 900-999-9999. I see that everyone here says that it is a dept collector but their voice mail said that I was looking to run my own business and that if I am still interested to call them back so they can help me to be successful. If it is a dept collector isn't this miss representation? I did save the voice mail and then I put their number in my Call Reject list!! The name left on the voice mail is Julian Robinson.with a return call number 646-680-0889.

I had this happen today, phone didn't ring, no showing that I received a call but its in my vm. I wonder how that happens.

Just had this number give a half ring, then flipped straight to VM. I don't have the number blocked (new number for this company).

FYI to the company, if you can't let the phone ring and give someone a chance to answer, your company might just be a [***] bully scam. I will never deal with you.

I received a voicemail from 888-617-4378. My phone never rang, just received a voicemail. The message said they were calling to collect a medical debt. I do not not any medical debt so this is obviously a scam!

Even if it does go straight to voice mail, the number usually still shows up as a missed or blocked call on your phone so that you see it. At least on mine it does. This number is leaving no missed call alert on my phone, just going straight to voice mail like the rest of the people are saying. And I haven't blocked it yet because I just got the voice mail today. I'm going to block the number now though.

Received a vm from (888) 617-4378 but my phone never rang. Left a message with an automated voice saying they are "Calling from Balanced Healthcare Recivables to collect a debt". I don't have any overdue bills or anything in collections. Blocking this scam number.

They harass me by calling EVERY DAY, multiple times. They are trying to collect a debt from when I went to the ER, but they billed under the wrong code. My insurance DOES cover this visit, but this company is saying I still owe. They are rude when you try to ask questions, and one person cussed at me before hanging up. All I asked for was to be sent a copy of what they are saying I owe so I can review it with my insurance.

Very tough sounding guy saying this is an attempt to collect a debt and to call him back. Didn't identify who he was or this BS Debt was, as all my bills are paid, so I just blocked it.

I've gotten several calls to my cell phone from this number. Ring since and goes right to voicemail. They say they are trying to collect a medical debt, yet we don't have any outstanding medical bills. Also, we have a landline for our home, which all our doctors have. My cell is for my business only.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

Got a voicemail from these guys and came to this site as I was sure I have no outstanding bills. Although the comments here say it is a scam company, I didn't want to take the risk so I called them back and they told me I have a medical bill from 18 months ago. I told them to send me a bill in mail and hung up. I called the medical facility where I went to and sure enough I had a bill outstanding for the exact amount. The reason the medical facility never sent me the bill was they had a typo in my address!! so stupid...I would have ended with bad credit history. So don't ignore but follow up on the call.
