Text me first asking me to call 888 number with a case number then call my phone saying, me or my lawyer needs to call with case number because of  criminal activity this makes no sense try calling the  local number back the line is busy,  this is the biggest scam ever

Probably not "the biggest scam ever", but definitely a scam.
Forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) so your phone service provider can deal with it.  The phone companies set up that number just for such spam/scam messages.  Might as well put it to use.

It was a phone message saying he is Michael Harris and calling about an open investigation being filed againt Carlo Rugo and to call the 888 number and give the agent reference case #334-01127 and it's an urgent message.

Company called and threatened to have me served with court papers for an account that has been closed, and has a zero balance

Text me with 888# and a case # then later in the day a lady called me giving me the same info. Said theirs an opened investigation case on me.

I just got that same exact text message and phone call. I noticed though that I did receive a couple calls from blocked numbers and they were silent. Then I got this text message and another phone call from a blocked call with the same voice mail message. It has to be a scam.

A text message from 201-371-4392, then a call from a blocked number asking me to call 888-638-0913

Got a text then a call.  Open investigation on me. My lawyer or myself needs to call 888-638-0913.  Other numbers related are 201-903-7972 and 865-213-2051.

Got a text message first from 201-474-3103 saying I needed to call 888-638-0913 pertaining to a case number.  Not only did I get a text message but my husband and my son  I call the number and they are trying to say I owe a bill from 2011 on a credit card. I argued with him and then he said I would have to take it up with the judge. Click. People are crazy these days. Be-careful

i received a phone call also, however it wasn't for me, it was for my EX husband whom doesn't have my phone #, and I haven't talked to him in 5 years.    same thing  file # and a dash #

I've been divorced over 20 years, today they called regarding an account for my ex, hahaa!!!

Calls demanding a return call or punishment

I've been getting calls from a blocked number as well and I checked my messages, same thing that everyone else is getting. I've had to deal with "legal matters" in the past, and this is not how real investigators conduct business. Now the fraudsters got people who speak clear English  working for them trying to get people to believe it's legit, instead of Kerpal from India with a very bad accent claiming that his name is Robert.

I received a text message stating they need to verify my location and file number.

Received a text message from 201-474-2761 saying "This is a message from NSI regarding an open investigation pertaining to" me "to verify location information. Please contact the issuer at 888-638-0913 and reference case file # to prevent further escalation." Then received a phone call from 312-598-8884 regarding an open investigation and I am to return the phone call to 888-638-0913.

It was a phone message about an open investigation being filed against me and to call the 888 number and give the agent reference case #0599121and it's an urgent message they left with my 86 year old grandmother. I return the call the guy stating mam you  breach a contact for a credit card from 2013 to pay $250 and I don't know what happens, I stated to the guy I would have my lawyer to give you all a call, he stated your lawyer well we are not waiting and hung up.
The lady who left the message said her name was Quin.

Received text message with one 800 call back number and a reference number as well. Took the advice of the above and texted a screenshot of the text messages self to SPAM, Received a response that said a general or automated number. Reply to the text I received with STOP. I replied STOP received a notification that I was unsubscribed. Boom, done
