Got a call from this guy (foreigh accent - India maybe) claiming he's with blue cross and blue shield of florida.  Wanting my email and birthday so he can send confirmation info on for online access.  Sounds suspicious

Hi it happened to me today 8/6/10 really a big problem.  Reported to the credit agency. Caller said it was from BCBS.

OMG--the same thing is happening to me!  Hamesh of BCBS keeps calling me telling me he has information about a "family member", and wants me to give him my BCBS #.  I've repeatedly refused and told him it was a scam.  I reported this to the Florida State Attorney General's office. I called an insurance fraud number and they said to report it there.  I'm not going to call the 888# back because it may cost me a fortune for all I know!  This dude is actually getting insistent I call him back!  The nerve!

Got a call from the number 888-660-4852 from a woman calling her self Sheila. She says she is calling about a family member and needs my ss number and BCBS number. I told her if you are from BCBS you already have that info. She hangs up. I called the real BCBS and they said that call in no way originated from them. My guess someone trying to steal account numbers for medical fraud.

I received a call from this number, but I couldn't pick up my cellphone, because I was working. 30 minutes later I got this call again, and I couldn't pick up the cellphone, I thought, the persona or company who was calling me it would leave a message, but not.
I have the doubt because I don't know who was it.

As M Koenig reported in the 6 Oct 2011 post, we got a message from 888-660-4852 from a woman calling herself Sheila from BCBS needing to verify information about my son (she gave his first name!) and that I needed to call her back.  It sounded suspicious so I started searching reverse number look up.....

I received a voice mail message yesterday from a woman (don't remember the name) identifying the call from BCBS calling about my husband. Yes, she mentioned his first name and that she had questions about his claim. The callback number she gave is 888-660-4852. It was hard for me to understand the number because her voice got low then high and the connection a bit warbled. I played it back several times to make sure I got the correct number. Too late to call last night, so I called from my office, but the line just kept ringing; no answer. I called BCBS and they have no record that a call was placed to my number, nor any information about them calling about any claims. The representative I spoke with couldn't match up with any of the numbers to the one I received, either.

After reading these blogs, I guess I'll contact the fraud division, too. Thanks for the tip.

I got home from work today and there were two messages on my answering maching.  Although they had a heavy accent and they were difficult to understand, the first caller was a male, (couldn't understand his name) leaving a message for my husband.  He told me that they believed he was illigible for Medicare Benefits but they had no record of it.  They needed him to call 1-888-660-4852 to verify this information.

The second call was from a female, again very heavy accent, I could understand her name either.  This time she stated she was calling from Blue Cross Blue Shield and need him to call her at 1-888-660-4852.  Even though I had difficulty understanding her, it seemed odd that there were two calls, almost 30 minutes apart, same number, but one was trying to verify Medicare Benefits and the other was calling from BCBS.

I called back.  They answered the phone, I couldn't understand them so I ask to speak to someone who spoke english.  They disconnected the call.

Guess I'll contact Florida Attorney General's Office and report it as well.

I received a call/voicemail message from 888-860-4852 with a female voice, obvious foriegn accent saying they were calling me to check on my medicare coverage.  I was skeptical, so I went to google, typed in the number and came up with several identical experiences.  appears to be an obvious scam.

5/13/13 - got the same type of call.  Same name, phone number to redial.  I'm wondering where they got my number.  Where are all the other people located on this site?  FL?

Shows up as Unknown on my cell phone, left a message just a few minutes ago with this phone number. I couldn't understand his name with his accent, but he was calling from Florida Blue (formerly BCBS) wanting to verify benefits for my daughter and said her name. I called the number back and never got an answer.

This is totally a scam.  The caller is attempting to obtain your personal identifcation information to conduct medical fraud/identity theft.  Please DO NOT give out your information.  Florida Blue (Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida) would never make an outbound call to members asking for them to provide personal information over the phone as they already have it on file!  If you receive a call from this toll free number 888-860-4852, tell them you are reporting them to the Florida Attorney General's Office and Medicare Fraud Department and hang up! As I checked with Florida Blue and this is NOT their toll free number.

Got the call today from and unknown number. That was the first flag. They left a voicemail and I could barely understand them, which was the second flag. Then when I tried to call back no answer. Thats when I knew something was up. Glad I googled it!

We received a message from an male with an Indian accent claiming to be from BCBS.  He knew my husbands name and said he needed me to return the call to verify claim information.  We have full insurance so I knew it was a scam.  Googled the telephone number and saw this post.  Beware!

Got the same call today. Hamesh (Indian accent) from Florida Blue and said he need to discuss benefit information for my husband- and used his first name. Not going to call him back as BCBS has never communicated with me via phone in the 8 years I've had them. Sounds like the same guy people back in 2010 received calls from.

Just received a call from Hamesh who left a voicemail saying he wanted to discuss some benefit information. I called back and there was no answer.
