Asked who they were with a number of times and he just kept saying “this is in regard to..” smells scammy

Similar story to previous comment.  Called to tell us we had won an award in a local paper, and they wanted to award us a plaque to commemorate it.  Only problem is we'd have to pay for the plaque, and I'm sure it wouldn't have been cheap.  Initially tried to pass themselves off as being with the newspaper, then conceded that they only work "with" the newspaper.  Never did get the guy to give up the name of his company - ha ha.

From "Top Rated" calling regarding the "Reader's Choice Award" for our agency. She said she wanted to "verify the company information for the plaque" we'd won with our owner. When I said the owner wasn't available but I could verify any information she needed, she said she only wanted to speak with the owner.

This number called twice and left messages once claiming to be from the paper to give us an award and the second from a local magazine here.

Claimed to be "Top Rated" for the Choice Award plaque.  Haha!  No info from me.  Spam/Scam, no good either way.

Our veterinary hospital received a call saying we’d one top vet clinic in the local media paper that recently shut down— asked for money for the plaque. When I asked what company I was speaking to because the paper had shut down, I was hung up on. Complete scam.

This is a fraud! We won an award, and these people come out of the woodwork, lied saying they work for the magazine. They do not, they are scammers.
