I had a call from this number called it back, they were very helpful in providing me all the information I needed. I told them I was afraid of all the scams that are going on but after assuring me that I only needed to provide a statement and they didn't want anything more I decided to handle my file immediately instead of waiting to proceed to Harris county knowing I have moved to LA. I'm not sure why this number is marked but I did receive a paid in full letter and a validation letter before providing anything.

I received a voicemail from this number, a recording from "Kelly Levine", stating that she had received notice against my SSN and something about a possible garnishment.  No other information about what company or anything she was with though.  I searched her name already and see that others have gotten the exact same recording on other phone numbers, with it just likely being a scam.

Ignore - block - report - www.consumerfinance.gov & your state attorney general.  IF there were papers, you would NOT have a warning cold call.. BTW - wages are garnished by court order (a hearing) - not because a bottom feeder says so.

Um, no you didn’t. You are an ERS agent yourself and posted on here to further ligitimize your scam to people searching your number. No one should ever answer this number nor call it back. No one should EVER provide any personal or identifying information over the phone to a collection agency. Period. Go get a real job, loser.

You are right, and the tip off is that they claimed they were going to sue her in Harris County, which I believe is in Texas, yet she lived in LA.  Federal law requires them to sue her (and everyone else) in the county that they live in.  However that post was made last year, so you can be sure that scumbag will not be back.

A robocall from Kelly Levine something about my SSN and potential garnishment. It goes from human voice to robovoice when my name is inserted, meaning, this is an audio template used by scammers to blast the same call to thousands of people. I run credit reports once a year and also monitor my FICO score. Basically, this is a threat. I'm pretty sure that violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This is why legitimate companies will send you a bill, not a sketchy voicemail hoping to rope in gullible unfortunates.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act only deals with, well credit reporting, which is why it is named that.  The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) however deals with the collection of debts.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

You were deceived. These people are scammers. They are using my number to make false calls to people.  I have been getting calls from many persons who said I had called them and demanded their social security number and credit card.
