Some man called my minor child serving a over the phone court order for some Sergio person and i called back to tell him we don't know him. That's my child phone number and he called me an idiot liar that gives his daughter number as if im that person. He was rude , annoying and laughed for no reason after calling me an idiot again and hanging up. Very rude and unprofessional and if you ask me harassing the wrong person. he gave me anxiety from anger. I did not disrespect him in any way.- Caller: Process service dispatch

- Lisa replies to Ruben A.OMG I had the same exact issue they called me a liar and said no one by my name has ever been registered to my cell phone!
- WB| 1 replyMy father received a call regarding me using a name I haven't used since 1995. Because my father received a call, I had to call the number back to see what was going on. Called, gave them the case number they left with my dad. Told them I haven't gone by that name in 25 years, the guy said he would remove my number. I asked him to remove my fathers number, he said he would but when I asked him to verify that my fathers name and number had been removed and he was not to be called again, he put me into a voicemail. Scam if I ever heard one.

- Jayne| 1 replyThis number left a voicemail saying they were from this process server dept and this was my notice and if I did not respond I would be found in fault.. They even referencd a docet number... Such idiots thinking they can serve me a judgement using a voicemail not even knowing if this was the correct number or not...
- Caller: Process server dept
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Jayne replies to JayneI meant to say they are idiots thinking a judgment can be served over the phone and voicemail at that...
also, how do they know theyre calling the correct person... People change phone numbers all the time... not that it matters because a judgement cannot be served via phone call and voicemail... - Robin B| 8 repliescalled my cell phone and I didn't answer because the caller id said private. They then called my sister and left a message for me. She relayed the info to me. I called the # and he said I had a court appearance scheduled for Nov 3rd. I asked for what and said said for a checking account I have with a bank that hasn't been in business since 2008. I told him I wasn't falling for his scam. Problem is, he knew my Social Security number. Anyone else experience this?

- BigAThe fake process server/location finder extortion attempt usually consists of the following:
They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency. They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). They threaten to serve you at home or at work. They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work. They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID. None of which is true. Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else. They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”. Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time. Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: https://800notes.com/faq/attorney-general - A replies to Robin BThis same exact thing happened to me today. They called my father in law stating I owed a bank and had a court date. I started to panic because I’ve never been in trouble with the law and have 2 small children. I called the bank they supposedly said I owed and they have no record of me oweing anything. Obviously a scam.
