I received a voicemail from the number 888-729-7123, claiming to be from Bank of America. The individual requested that I return a call to the number 800-918-8520. This is a scam.

Just got a voice mail (thankfully captioned) from this number.  Was suspicious... they left no name or as to why they were calling other than to say Hi this message is for xxx xxx (my name) the Bank of America. Then told me to call the same number as listed in previous comments 1 800 918 8520 and days/times of operation.    Glad I found this site to confirm my suspicions it was a spam/scam call!

Her name was Vanessa Punch, from bank of america ..and she wanted me to return a call to a different nember of 1-800-918-8520

Yet another call  same number and same spiel.  Kendra Davis called and asked me to call back at 800-918-8520.   No indication as to why.

I also got an email 3 days ago saying to call 888-998-0945, stating they may have payment options for me- more convenient payment options to help you manage your account(s).  Skeptical with this one too.

Got a call from 888-729-7123 from a Michael Kinicky (sp). Said he was calling from Bank of America and asked me to call back at 800-918-8520. NOPE.

On my voicemail, male voice said calling from Bank Of America. This is not the number to Bank of America

I received a call from this number this morning from a woman named Anya Smith. I wanted to add my experience so another "representative" name is mentioned.

Claimed to be from Bank of America. CALLED MY WORK PHONE. Asked for my number to verify my account, claimed that my account couldn't be pulled up with my number.. she then asked for my account number or social security number. That's when I hung up.

Said he was calling from Bank of America. Did not say why he was calling me. Was sugar sweet, which was another red flag. No one calling me from B of A has ever been that over-the-top fake sweet.

The caller ID showed as Bank of America but I did not recognize the number and didn't answer. I always call the number on the back of the card. They said to call back at the 8520 number. Total scam. Beware.

I worked for BofA for 14 years. It's not a "scammer". It's a special dept in BofA.

This is what happens if have your credit/FICO score coming through the BofA portal and you've missed a few payments on another credit card or other debit.

They are wanting to make sure they get paid first if something bad starts happening to your income. That is all.

Call back to this number gets, "Welcome to Bank of America."  It goes on to ask you to enter your account number.  As a former BOA employee, I think you'll agree that BOA would elicit a better response from customers by telling the customer or leaving a message to the effect of "call the number on  your card or the published number for customer service."  Any number can be spoofed, including this one, and scammers have cheated Americans out of billions of dollars.

It behooves BOA and all banks, CC companies, financial institutes to find a more secure method of serving customers.  In my opinion it is foolish to enter your bank account number unless you initiated the call to a published number.  Apparently, the CC company and bank I use have learned that lesson.  Any calls regarding my account instruct me to call the number on my CC or bank card.
