Computer warning about a serious infection that was sending all my data to thieves.  I know this type of warning is a SCAM, but I called the number anyway.  Got a middle eastern woman who wanted me to give her control of my computer.  I refused and told her I knew she was a fraud and wanted to steal my data.  She got very bitchy and threatened me over and over about taking legal action against me.  She insulted me over and over as I told her she was a fraud and a scam.  Stayed on the phone with me for longer than they usually do, but said I should call her back if I was stillhaving computer problems.  Duh?  Call her back?  For what?

BC: How do you know if you made a call to Pakistan, Iraq, IRAN ( oh, they REALLY hate us there! ) or some other unfriendly Central Asian country, when you called that "toll free" number?? Nearly ALL tele-scammers use Internet technology to "spoof"/disguise their REAL location and actual call source number!! In theory--they can also make it easy for you to make a OVERSEAS LONG DISTANCE CALL TO THEM. Oh, it gets better, too. That "bitchy" woman of Middle East accent? Sounds like she was keeping your call going---so THEY could TRACE YOUR CALL LOCATION...and be sure to call back if you have any problems **click**!!  Just to be on the side of caution--you might want to pay closer attention to any strangers driving by your neighborhood---casing the houses this time of year, when burglary incidents tend to rise.

And it's almost very likely those [***] downloaded a very sly keylogger program on your PC--recording EVERY keystroke made and piping all that information to the waiting PC of some hacker who will gain access to all your secret password protected accounts AND credit card online shopping info!!! Eventually, they might gain REMOTE CONTROL of your home PC---turning it into one of THEIR mini-servers ( look at what happened to Hillary Clinton's private IP SERVER )

It's recommend you download some reputable PC virus / malware clean up scanners and change ALL your passwords.

IF you get a browser hijack. DO NOT PANIC and NEVER call those "toll free" numbers!! Use your Task Manager ( press Ctrl, Alt and Del keys at same time ) and click on PROCESSES; you want to find your browser and END PROCESS them. THEN use a combination of reputable malware and PC virus clean up scanners.  I use RKill, Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro.
