said we have a past due balance

Our daughter received a letter (not a phone call) from "Bank of America" saying they are trying to collect a debt. It said to call 888 750-7306 to make arrangements.

So you don't trust that the letter came from BoA? I ask because a third party collector posing as the bank violates the FDCPA. [See §1692e(14)]

Received a letter from "BOA" that had only the last name and address correct. The first name and  account number were wrong. Says BOA is trying to collect a payment. This letter is NOT a usual statement from our CC company. Letter contains number above. Just an FYI.

Rec'd a suspicious looking letter from "BOA" asking me to submit a late payment on an account that I could not identify....only used last 4 digits. This was the phone number that requested we call.

Past due balance on card I don't own, only last 4 digits displayed

Also received a mailed letter with the wrong account saying I owe $. I don't have a clue what it would be for
