I'm a California State Licensed Real Estate Broker. Five of my clients have recently inQuired regarding rent-to-own properties, reQuesting further info, so I decided to look into this on their behalf. This MyRentToOwn advertisement appeared apparently as a result of my recent search engine activity.
So, I entered my own company info, until I got to the credit card screen. Wow, asking for money when I haven't even had a chance to speak to anyone about how the program (proScam?) works. I hadn't even had a chance to back out completely when I received a ph call from Connecticut #860-333-6411 w/voicemail message, prompting to call #866-391-5627.
I called the latter #, s/w Claire. Her voice sounded digitally translated, and she kept asking me Questions that were not applicable based on my previous answers. I asked what country she is located in, she said the US, Modesto. When I called her out on asking n/a Questions, mentioned that she isn't listening to the purpose of my call, she giggled, apologized, and proceeded doing the same thing, so I asked for her supervisor. Kevin took the call w/o introduction, I had to ask his name and title, he had a similar accent to Claire but less digital sounding, and didn't offer much more info than Claire did. I had told both of them that I was calling on behalf of five of my clients to decide whether I thought this to be a program that I would recommend for them to utilize. I asked if they are licensed by the CA BRE (California Bureau of Real Estate), Kevin said yes. I asked for their license #, and he gave me a customer service # 877-486-9902..."since you have a lot of Questions." Wow, I really didn't ask much! I told him I really only need their CA BRE lic#. Since he avoided my inQuiry, I looked up their name while I was on the phone w/him, and asked which company name, city, broker they are licensed under, San Bernardino or Los Angeles? He said Los Angeles...strange, Modesto and Los Angeles aren't even in the same county. I told him that if he's the supervisor he should know the license info, it's pretty basic. Kevin sounded nervous and uncertain, like deer in the headlights, and then he disconnected the call.
A minute later I received two text messages from 47711: A welcome text, followed by a text from Andy w/ MyRentToOwn, prompting me to call him at 1-888-752-0696 before 8PM, and that he'd be glad to help me find an affordable home. Interesting, Claire had indicated that they are a national company in the US, so I would think that a time zone would have been indicated on the 8PM reference. I called the number, a lady w/thick accent answered, said Andy isn't available, however, she would assist me. I told her that I need to s/w someone w/better English. She responded hastily, "Are you saying that I cannot speak English clearly?" I replied, "I am saying that I cannot understand your English clearly." She said, "thank you" and hung up.
IF this company is legit, they are the furthest from being professional. My vibe is that they are either not legit, and/or outsourced out of the country. I would NEVER EVER refer my clients to do business with this company! My business reputation is at stake when I make an endorsement.- Caller: MyRentToOwn
