- POed| 3 repliesI am pretty sure this is a scam, I got a call from a blocked number. They left a message stating that they have tried to serve papers to my husband a few times and that he is never at the address they have on file. BS. The woman, Mrs. Rodriguez said that he needed to contact them today so they could serve him the paper and that she was from the county processing office(or something like that). This same place then called my husbands place of work and asked him if he was going to be there between 2-4 today so they could serve him. This is the 4th or 5th call of this type that he has received, funnily enough the servers never show up.
This is a total scam! - POed replies to POedI forgot to say she left this number to call her back at 888-762-6585
- Kaitlyn replies to POed| 1 replyI just got this call again for the 2nd time! Saying the deputy will be at our house in the AM to serve papers for my husband. I'm sure its a scam!
- AlfredTotal BS. This is a SCAM. Do NOT fall for it. I'm an attorney, and I know for a fact, if a debt collector wanted to find you, they would. Also, process servers don't make phone calls; no one would ever get served. Ask them to send you something to verify that they have something legit to serve; they won't. Tell them you are recording the conversation; they'll hang up. My dad keeps getting calls from this number and I call back, tell them I'm his attorney, and basically give them the third degree. They always end up hanging up on me. They must not want to serve him too badly. These people should be prosecuted.
- CWG40 replies to KaitlynTotal scam. No legitimate litigant or legal representative calls you up and tells you in advance that you are going to be served at a specific time or place. If papers were going to be served on you in a law case, you'd have heard about it from the attorney for hte other side. There would be a paper trail. Also, if papers werer going to be served on you that would mean that a complaint has been filed at the local main civil court. You can check this out by simply going down to your local main civil court and checking out the defendants civil list. The court clerks are usually knowledgeable about these scams and will be glad to healp you. Just ignore and block these calls.
- JessieKeeps calling 3 times a week. It is a scam. I called back today and a man answered stating Captial Law Group. Catch these [***].....
- Caller: Capital Law group
- Kathy| 1 replyThey told me I was going to get served and going to go to jail. He went from telling me it was for Home Depot. I never had anything at Home Depot. Then he was yelling at me telling me it was for a couple others, citi bank, victoria secret etc. Then he said it was marital asset and I was responsible for it. We fought for awhile and he told me he knows why my husband divorced me and I gave him my ex-husbands phone number since the call was for him in the beginning. He will really enjoy talking to my ex-husband. Ha. I kept calling back to get someone else then they would say hold on and then Anthony would get back on the phone. I called them like 20 times. I can be just as annoying as they are. I will continue to call them. I can't imagine how many elderly they are scamming. When I called the number tonight the voicemail was Anthony and it said " You've reached ILLEGAL OFFICES, please leave a message" . No message but they will be blocking me before it's over.
- BigA replies to KathyThis is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
