Received a call someone was serving me. Asked details, was told to call this number. Williams Rivera is the name they gave. They claim to be attempting to take me to court over a debt where last payment was March 2008. It's May 2015. I pointed out that this debt would be 7 years old, and in Texas the statute of limitations is 4 years to threats legal action. When I asked for their address so I could countersue, they told to me to wait for my court documents and promptly hung up.

They CANNOT "serve" you (even if the debt were legitimate, and you know it's not), on a time-barred debt.

What should I do if I'm sued for a time-barred debt?

Defend yourself in court. If you're sued to collect on a time-barred debt, pay attention, and respond. Consider talking to an attorney. You or your attorney should tell the judge that the debt is time-barred and, as proof, provide a copy of the verification from the collector or any information you have that shows the date of your last payment. The lawsuit will be dismissed if the judge decides the debt is time-barred. In any case, don't ignore the lawsuit. If you do, the collector likely will get a court judgment against you, and possibly take money from your paycheck, bank account, or tax refund.

Assert your FDCPA rights. It's against the law for a collector to sue you or threaten to sue you on a time-barred debt. If you think a collector has broken the law, file a complaint with the FTC and your state Attorney General, and consider talking to an attorney about bringing your own private action against the collector for violating the FDCPA.

Update: tried calling them back to get their address, and I was informed this was the answering service, so I was transferred - to a resort reservation line. Hung up, called back, and got a busy signal. A busy signal from an answering service? Not likely. So I called from a different phone and gave the same request. Once again, transferred, then disconnected. As soon as I called back, I get a busy signal. I did that with all five phones in my house with the same result every time. This is a scam.

Ignore the call.  Block the number.  A phone call is not legal notice or proper service of process.    This is a debt collection scam.   If there were a civil case pending against you, you'd hear about it from the attorney for the other side.  You would have received letter from the plaintiff's attorney.  There would be a paper trail.  You would NOT have heard about a civil case from some scamming debt collector.  Legitimate attorneys do NOT cold call people, announce a lawsuit  and demand some sort of immediate payment.

Just an  attempt to scare you into paying them something.  Don't fall for it.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

    If they are bothering you,

    Report them:

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

"Si, Sy, Sue" was an excellent comedy sketch that Mel Blanc used to do on 'The Jack Benny Program" (radio). Has nothing to do with your post, but if you need a laugh, give it a listen. (we need a change of pace today)

Used by fraudulent or deceptive debt collectors "Williams & Rivera Litigation" -- They often obscure their identity, impersonate government entities and do not follow any of require Fair Debt Collection Act procedures. Do not provide them with any information. Demand a verification of debt letter. Check the collections section of your credit report. Contact CFPB.
