I got a call from a man named Robert Giovanni, he said there was a complaint filed on me and he couldn't discuss the matter... He gave me this number to call, 888-810-2650 a man with a deep voice answered last name Bennett, he was a black guy, very nice... He said there was a 2010 debt that I owed and that I was being taken to court by the lender, he said they were the letigators and told me all about the loan and said that since I have no record of fraud, he can see if the attorney can give me a deal to settle out of court... He came back with a 340 settlement helping me to avoid 1500 court fees and paying interest on the 200 fee I had... He knew all my info so I said I'd settle and he recorded me giving the authorization.. After talking to my husband, he said it was more than likely a bill collector lying. :( I called the bank but couldn't do anything about it... Sad thing is that I'm on bed rest for 3weeks and not receiving paychecks and that was part of our rent money. I don't know if what these guys told me was true or not... If it is I guess I'm ok with it, last think I need now is being accused of fraud. If not, well I hope they don't enjoy their paycheck for lying to people..

So your ok with paying a bill because someone cold calls you and say's "you owe X amount" without written proof?  And fraud? OMG.. Not that old scam claim again!  Your whole post is laden with FDCPA violations and the whole story screams shill!

BTW, you also failed to name this so great DC agency that cold calls. Post up the legal name, legal street business address, BBB, Website if they have one.

First - Court costs are not $1500 - especially on a small amount of $200.
Second - You gave a stranger $340 because he told you so in a PHONE CALL???
Third - The bank could not do anything about it???
Fourth - Your husband thought the bill collector was lying.
Fifth - I don't know if what these guys told me was true or not".
Sixth - The attorney conveniently agreed to "settle out of court".

Sorry - does not compute!  Nice story though.
