- The HandyTekFAKE QB Support!
- Caller: QuickBooksProSupport
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- ericThey called our office this morning. Our accounting clerk talked to them and let them have access to the system.
The caller claimed that her sync was bad and the files were corrupt and they needed to fix it. She let them have access to the computer through what appeared to be a Quickbooks remote login. He then opened some Quickbooks files with notepad which, of course, showed up as looking corrupt since they are binary files, not text files. She got worried and called me. I unplugged her from the internet and had her call her usual Quickbooks support number who told her that they never initiate such a call. If Quickbooks calls you and wants access to your computer, it is always a scam.
He wasn't on there but a couple of minutes and so I hope he didn't get anything important. I think that most of it was just trying to show her that her files were corrupted. - Liana McLaughlin| 1 replySame as other person stated. People called saying they were from QB and showed me files that were supposedly on my quickbooks. They then wanted me to sign up for Quickbooks Cloud services, which do not exist, at a discounted price of only $999.99. They wanted me to write a check and scan it and then send them a picture. I hung up.

- BigA replies to Liana McLaughlinThe "showed" you files? Does that mean you let them into the computer?
