    Got a txt message saying it was Visa and that my account was closed to unusual activity and to call 888-899-3981. Most likely looking to take your ID.

    I just got the same exact text message about 20-mins ago. I went online and checked my VISA accounts, and sure enough there are no warnings on my accounts. I knew right away when I saw it something wasn't right. If anyone see's this message ... "Your VISA Account is closed due to unusual activity, call us at 1(888)899-3981" ... DON'T CALL!!! Call you financial institutions directly from the numbers listed on the back of your cards if you are in doubt. Don't ever call a number you are uncertain of!

    Got the same text: "Your VISA Account is closed due to unusual activity, call us at 1(888)899-3981." Checked my account online, and there was no unusual activity. Definitely a scam, beware!!

    I almost fell for this!!!  I got the same text message saying my visa account has been closed due to unusual activity and to call the 888 number. I do have several visa cards but didn't recall ever authorizing them to text me any alerts.. but I decided to give the number a ring and an automated message greeted me "Thank you for calling Visa cards department" and asked me to enter my credit card number! That's when I hung up the phone.. This has to be a scam. So if anyone else gets this message, don't even bother calling the 888 number, just get in touch with the customer service number on the back of your visa card if you suspect anything fishy.

    Received txt from VISA@ATMAIL13.tmomail.net it says: Your Visa account is closed due to unusual activity, call us at 1(888)899-3981

    txt received 1:38:24pm CST on 05/20/2009

    calling that number will ask you: You will be ask two pieces of information which is link to your account. Please enter the sixteen digit number on your card followed by a pound sign.

    This number is still active as of this posting. They should investigate it
