- Rosina| 1 replyDon’t answer! My computer “locked up” after trying to log onto Amazon and my screen said to call this number. I followed the directions. It was a man who was trying to still my identity by hacking my wifi!
- Jackie| 2 repliesMy computer locked up when I searched Amazon and it said to call this number, saying they were Microsoft, so I did and followed all the instructions and the lady was explaining everything she was doing to me, on the phone for almost an hour with her and then she wanted me to send $249 so they can fix the issue, she told me to send a check to instinct tool, than wanted the check number. I hung up on her than change my password to everything, not sure if there were able to download anything.

- B-Edwards replies to JackieIf they signed onto to your computer, you need to disconnect from the internet and get your computer to a professional repair shot to have the programs they installed removed. 99% of the time, they will leave programs that will allow them to either steal you personal info and any banking info, and often lock your computer so to shake you down for what amounts to ransom.
This is how ID theft works. - B-Edwards replies to RosinaSee my reply to Jackie. You also probably have a bit of malware that produces the Pop-Up you saw. You get the malware by downloading from various internet sites. Horrible stuff. If you allowed them access to you computer, you are at serious risk.

- BKI received a message on my computer that it was at risk after going online to pay bills. There was also an extremely loud audio message saying not to turn off the computer. I called the number on the screen, which is 888-927-0789, and was on the phone with someone by the name of Thomas Anderson. He said his direct line is 312-971-2612 if we got disconnected. He had me download an app and said he would forward me to a Microsoft rep, which he never did. I became suspicious when he asked me if I had additional devices and if they were all on the same wi-fi. He also told me that people had been attempting to use my laptop which I knew was not true. He also started mentioning the accounts I had just accessed and told me to change my banking account login while he was on the phone. He had remote access to my computer, so I knew he would be able to see what I was doing, so I hung up. Taking my laptop to Geek Squad tomorrow and changing all of my passwords.

- Mike MJust had the same thing as these other people described. I did not contact them and hit ctl+alt+delete and end task and magically it all disappeared. Appreciate those who trudged through the phone call. You saved me a bunch of time. Sorry for what your went through though

- Ryan replies to JackieHi I got the same thing they can access anything until you link your computer with them as long you didn’t do that you’ll be fine. Any add that pops up where it dose not let you exit the windows open on screen is a scam they are trying to force you to call them. I called cause I knew it was a scam and all I herd was a bunch of people talking in the background and right there I knew it was some sort of call centre I did not give them anything. I called them out on their scamming guy got pretty mad at me. Next time do Alt , Control , Delete clods the web browser I was using Google Crome and try a different browser. Once I did that I was able to access YouTube. They blast this scam out as a command so to popular sites they know people might go too YouTube , Amazon so on once you click on the command the pop up is activated. Ignore all pop ups they are scams and before calling the number fact check the number put it up in google see what comes back soon I did that with this number came back as a scam from many reviewers online.
- RyanTHIS NUMBER is a complete scam do not call they claim to be a Microsoft team that will fix your computer do not call ignore them they ask for personal information like back accounts do yourself a favour and don’t even call.
