    He's using very old and unlawful intimidation tactics. If you take his call, tell him that if he has a valid claim he will follow federal law in order to collect it. Tell him he now has 5 business days to provide you with a full, complete and legitimate letter of validation, as outlined and required in the FDCPA. By mail, not e-mail or fax.
    If he starts with the debt collectors old and time-honored tradition of "Bluster, BS, Excuses, Threats and Insults", he has verified that he is nothing more than a fraud or a 3rd party collector using illegal attempts to collect a bogus or invalid debt. Ignore him or block his calls.
